notes
Performing with Jewel, Steve Winwood and 10,000 Maniacs within the first year of forming, the fiercely independent Katie Todd Band has burst onto the Chicago music scene. Katie, a singer/songwriter/keyboardist, is backed by a powerful trio, consisting of Travis Dow on guitar, Mark Cameron on drums, and Evan Cantor on the bass. The four of them create a fresh and edgy brand of pop music. 2002 proved to be a pivotal year for the band, releasing
their debut album, "Changing Faces" to much critical acclaim. The Katie Todd Band won the "Big Break" competition in June of 2002, which gave them the opportunity to open for Tonic at Milwaukee's Summerfest, which then opened the door for them to open for Steve Winwood at Milwaukee's 2003 Summerfest, Five For Fighting in 2004, and Pete Yorn in 2005. The Katie Todd Band continues to play regularly around the country, including an opening stint for the Wallflowers in Chicago this past summer. On Dec. 20, 2003, the band released their first live album to enthusiastic audiences. The band regularly sells out legendary Chicago venues such as Schuba's and Double Door. Their compelling stage presence is provoking some of the most powerful live performances to be seen.
2005's Make Some Time For Wasting is the band's dynamite new offering.

Sing out loud, accessible driving music
author: Richard E FrangiamoreDiscovered this bunch on Pandora. Easily sucks you in from the first listen. Try "Oz". The guitar work thrives on excellent production work, but Katie's voice is what really shines. Not sure how well the band would hold up live, though. I notice many resemblances to Coldplay (in a good way). Recommended!
The title song blows my mind. No kidding. Brilliant Album - vocals and band.
author: Ted SchlenkerI usually buy CDs featuring guitar players. But when I want vocals, I buy women artists and Katie Todd is at the top of my list. This is a wonderful CD with a powerful production sound. The band is not background fodder. Thank God.
One more very fine CD from a wonderful singer
author: Michael BablickShe does it again - wonderful songs, perfect harmonies and melodies. The tracks I really love are FACE DOWN, IN AND AROUND, OZ and THIS TIME. Why not 5 stars? Well, I don't like the string arrangement songs. This is Celine Dions playground - not Katies.
Amazing Artist!
author: MarkI never heard of this band until I saw them play live in Chicago in March of 2006. I've been hooked on their music ever since! Do yourself a favor and pick up this CD, as well as their other two albums. You will not regret it at all!
Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!
author: Mark M.Simply put: The Katie Todd Band blows everyone else out there away. I first heard them on the now defunct (*grrrrr*) XM Unsigned station about a year ago and all three of their CDs are still cycling through my CD player. Amazing stuff both musically and lyrically; I just wish they'd release a new CD every week or so! Do yourself a favor and pick up all three CDs.
Amazing album!!!
author: Toribeautiful vocals and song writing! There isn't a song on this CD i don't love!
Catch them now before they hit big!
author: David UKI was recently on holiday in Chicago, visiting from the UK, and strolling with some friends along Navy Pier when we stumbled across a band playing live. It was this band and we decided we'd listen to one song and then move on. One hour later we were still there enjoying the last song. This is a great album, it's clear this band is going places with their style of melodic indiepop. It's never fair to categorise anyone but fans of acts like Fiona Apple, Jewel, Aimee Mann, Tori Amos, Emm Gryner etc. should find something to enjoy here. Bring on the next album.
Katie Todd's vocals are fantastic!
author: www.GreatIndieMusic.comVery well done. Keep up the good work!
Wake up and pay attention
author: SuzeThis is vibrant, uplifting music. The lyrics are simple, but often surprisingly meaningful. You're not going to confuse this band for anyone else.
SPELLBINDING!

Head bopping fun and enjoyable, nice change of pace!
author: Nathan CarlisleI've been a fen of these guys since I heard them first open in Chicago. Great stuff thus far. Orginally interesting lyrics and well paced disc overall. Just as strong if not stronger than their first disc. Hope to hear more from them in the coming years!
Oh yea!
author: kellyeCome on Billboard. Add this to your top 10. Great music, great lyrics and the musicians are top notch.
Great tunes!
author: Dynamo DonRefreshing, innovative, cool!
Finally, some fresh new talent!
author: Michael SherwoodAfter hearing the iTunes freebie that featured Katie Todd, I went on an all out search to find out all I could about the band. The music is catchy and the lyrics are interesting. Look for a whole lot of success for Katie and the Guys, they are on their way!!
Great band, great cd
author: Katie S.KTB has a great sound. Katie herself has a fantastic, soulful voice. The combination of the piano with great guitar work and killer drums is awesome. I wish you would come out to DC and play sometime.
The Katie Todd Band Rocks!
author: ShanynWe ran across the Katie Todd Band in Minneapolis where they opened for a band called The Nadas (check them out as well - they are marvelous)! Needless to say, we got quite a show and desite moving to Massachusetts, we are still avidly following The Nadas AND Katie Todd! This new compliation of music is even better than Changing Faces! A must have for any indie lover's collection.
Buy This For a Friend
author: Paul SchlueterSome great indie albums you want to keep a secret all to yourself, but then you feel guilty that everyone hasn't heard (and supported) such great music lest it die a premature death. So it is with Make Some Time...Somewhere in between rock, soul, jazz and the blues Katie makes a nice fitting home with a distinct, quirky style that is original and (gasp!) fun!
FANTASTIC CHICK
author: Geovany RodriguezI was in Chicago for Market days on Aug 06, 2005....& I had the pleasure to hear Katie's beautiful voice (needless to say her looks), even though I was dying of thurst on a 95º weather...... I did not want to leave the spot where I was (banging my head as she was singing)Basically enjoying myself. I couldn't figure out what her name was (since my friends where bugging to leave the stage (they don't appreciate great music), anyhow. I recomend her music, not very many people sound as great live as they do on studio CD (not even some of our all time divas......not mentioning any names)So, ya'll buy the CD (I am buying the cd's as soon as leave work, I will be heading to Best buy and/or Circuit City. It all was worthy, definately will be checking on tour dates to see her......... The experience was just WONDERFUL just wonderful her voice, Piano skills, lyrics...... and needless to say her band mates just as great. I recomend it..... I would give her 10 stars but there wasn't an option
Spead the word...
author: TerryI was fortunate enough to grab The Katie Todd Band's disc, "Make Some Time for Wasting" after shopping CD baby and coming across it on the top seller's list. I can't spread the word fast enough. It's like a disease...man, you have a new rabid fan. Thanks for making a top-notch disc from start to finish. No "filler"...just great heart-felt tunes with an amazing band to display them. Keep on rockin'
Sophomore slump? I don't think so.
author: Keith JonesAlthough Spinal Tap may be one of England’s (and perhaps the world’s) loudest bands, the Katie Todd Band is one of the smartest bands this side of Squatney. The musical and lyrical combinations integrate the band members’ incredible talents and avoid ruts common in much popular music. More directly, this band knows how to construct creative, solid pop songs. “Make Some Time for Wasting” incorporates the band’s developing trademark groove and vocals with stylistic twists and arrangements that make you wish the songs would not end. Todd’s lyrics offer honest yet hopeful assessments of oneself and relationships. Best yet, the band does all of this without pretension or preaching. This disc blends well with those of Josh Rouse, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Ben Kweller, and HEM.
Blows my hair back!
author: LaraOutstanding CD! There isn't a bad song on the disc. I have to say that as good as your new cd is...I just saw you live in concert at Summerfest in Milwaukee and I was blown away. I went to see Pete Yorn and left with your CD. I wish big things for y'all.
face down
author: maddogkudo's to katie, mark, travis, and evan for a great cd (cd's) and show after show you never cease to impress. if you like good music, then go, fetch...'nuff said
Polished & Profound
author: CHINASKI"Make Some Time For Wasting" is packed with great power pop songs centered around catchy melodies and breathtaking vocals. The band is tight and the production is dynamic. This album delivers in a way that most of today's artists don't.
Katie Todd Band Set To Break Into The Mainstream
author: Al WilligThis disc should put the Katie Todd Band on the nationwide map if it can get the exposure it deserves. This is well written and performed pop and the production is top shelf. With Katie's distinctive voice, style and turn of a phrase, coupled with the perfectly complementary backing of Travis Dow, you have a winning vocal combination. The musicianship is solid and pleasing. Bassist Evan Cantor can probably be listed amongst the top of his craft. The songs range from the catchy pop of In and Around and Kweller (pretty obviously a nod to Ben Kweller in substance and title) to the heart wrenching Figure It Out and Wonder Woman. The track Oz is already a favorite amongst concert goers. Top to bottom, this is a very solid and satisfying disc.

author: LaurenAgain...you did it again. I just got your new CD and I can't get it out of my player. Your band is amazing and your writing is genuine and contagious. Thanks for making the music; keep up the great work!
