notes
"Egyptian Myths and Magic," a 97 minutes double CD, blends spoken word with music, resulting in a remarkable introduction to Egyptian mythology. Although the stories are thousands of years old, they echo the struggles of today's world.
On this recording for adults and mature teens, Katie Green is accompanied by accomplished percussionist Tony Vacca, whose music will transport the listener to the sparkling waters of the Nile. Tony plays the balafon (a large wooden xylophone), gongs, and stringed instruments not unlike those of ancient Egypt.
The production of this unique program was three years in the making. In February, 2001, Ms. Green traveled to Egypt to study with the Institute of Egyptian Art and Archaeology. She also conducted research at the British Museum, the Petrie Museum in London, and the Louvre in Paris, as well as at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
