    One of the most intuitively convincing and caring occasions one can experience is to become the recipient of a very gifted peron's very best efforts. That is precisely how Katie Gray honors us in this stunning first release. As to her gifts, where does one start? She weaves nearly a half dozen "voices" seamlessly throughout her compositions (and what songs they are!), truly transcending genre, all of them capable of mesmerizing us. These nine offerings are highly polished gems of construction and arrangement that nonetheless seem spontaneous and intimate, almost devotional -- both to her craft, and to her listeners. Play close attention, for example, to what she does on "Hallejuah," a barely disguised blues melody that she builds unerringly into a full anthem during its last two minutes. Hallejuah, I proclaim to you, Katie Gray, for your inaugural project!
