notes
Harpist, singer/song-writer, Katie Brennan grew up in the Seattle area, where she learned to sing in school and church choirs while studying classical harp and playing in local orchestras. She briefly attended Southern Methodist University Meadows School of the Arts for harp performance before turning her attention to folk music. For the past six years, she has resided in New York City, developing her skills as a song-writer and performer. This spring, she will return to the Pacific Northwest to be near family, mountains, and the Sound.
Her debut album, Slowly, is a collaboration between the songster herself and NYC producer and multi-instrumentalist, Itamar Ben-zakay. It offers an ecclectic collection of tracks, ranging from folk to accoustic country, reminiscent of early Neil Young, to quirky indie-pop. She plays both harp and piano throughout most of the album, while Mr. Ben-zakay, together with local musicians, Emek Rave, Lenny Molotov, and Tyler Orr, brings the songs to life via drums, electric and double bass, accoustic guitar, organ, trumpet, and Dobro.
