notes
Singer/songwriter Kathy Sanborn is the founder of Organic Protest Music. She says, “People ask me how to describe Organic Protest Music. It’s music that sounds like the performer is singing right there in your living room. It’s authentic. Organic Protest Music doesn’t have a lot of frills, but it has a lot of heart and soul. The lyrics are about important topics like peace activism and social conscience. The music offers natural instead of artificial ingredients. Ever eat an organic peach? Then you know what I mean.”
Sanborn’s new CD, Peaceful Sounds, exemplifies the Organic Protest Music genre to a tee. The album dives into controversial subjects including war, poverty, and homeless veterans, all in a style that is part jazz, part New Age. Sanborn says, “Peaceful Sounds hits you in the gut with honesty.”
Eric Cohen from WAER 88.3 in New York says, "Magnificent . . . One of the most original CDs I have heard all year. Kathy's voice truly is a gift from the heavens."
Author and award-winning journalist Dahr Jamail says, “Peaceful Sounds is a great CD, and Kathy has an amazing voice.”
Hollywood actor, director, and film producer Paul Cross says, "Kathy is the American Enya ...with an important message."
Peace activists from the Military Project say, “Begin with a mix of Marlene Dietrich, Billie Holiday, and go on to someone new, all her own, outstanding.”
The album's fourteen original songs range from four jazzy instrumentals to ten powerful vocals covering topics from love to peace.
Tracks 2 and 10 are sung in Spanish, showcasing Sanborn's flair for the Latin beat.
