notes
When was the last time you walked into an intimate dinner club, stopped by a piano bar, or danced in the aisles of a big band performance where the "girl singer" performed tunes that made you wonder "What ever happened to this kind of music and when can I hear it again?"
The music Kathryn Taubert sings appeals to anyone who ever identified with lyrics that told a story, evoked a memory, brought a laugh or a tear to your eye, or made you want to dance. Kathryn performs songs in which the melodies are timeless and lyrics tell stories that resonate.
Kathryn is most well known for her smooth interpretations of old favorites, as well as complex rhythms and multi-lingual Latin jazz favorites. Singing in four languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese & French), Kathryn's early influences included June Christie, Rosie Clooney, Julie London, Keely Smith, Peggy Lee, Anita O'Day, and “memorizing just about everything Ella and Sarah ever did,” Kathryn counts Mel Torme and Antonio Carlos Jobim among her favorite arrangers/composers.
Her 2007 CD, "Where Can I Go Without You?" is an eclectic collection of hauntingly beautiful love songs, swinging Latin Jazz vocals in three languages, and harmonies with accomplished guest artists on piano, guitar, sax, trumpet and vocals. Kathryn and Friends perform timeless tunes by everyone from Mercer to Manilow, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Peggy Lee, from an era that produced timeless melodies and lyrics that said it all.

Heavenly melodic!
author: Dr. Mark A. GoralKathryn Taubert's new CD called Where Can I Go Without You? is a lovely arrangement of traditional jazz tunes written by an extremely wide array of lyricists. I felt taken to another realm where birds fly around me like chiffon. All musicians on this recording were great. One gripe, though. Why is the drummer on this recording not credited anywhere on this CD?
