notes

At the heart of the contemporary Celtic revival dwells soul of Kate Price. A talented multi instrumentalist with a rich and beautiful voice, Kate continues to defy the very genre her early work helped define. Her music is as much a journey for her as for the listener.

Her repertoire blends cross cultural influences with her lyrical voice and her dynamic yet intimate sensibility. Noting this, one reviewer summed her up as “one part faery, one part gypsy”, and called her performance style “warm, elegant and intimate”.

The music industry, in it’s attempt to classify and categorize, has frequently compared Kate to Loreena McKennit, however this comparison does not really serve either of these talented women. While there are certainly similarities, the astute listener will quickly see that Kate’s music is quite distinctly her own vision

What Kate began on Deep Hearts Core, she completed with the Isle of Dreaming, but this time with an Indo-Persian influence overlaying the Celtic foundation. It is an exquisite and multifaceted recording of great depth and tenderness, and it just gets better with repeated listening. This recording is dedicated to Kate’s brother Leo whose love and support was a pillar of strength for Kate throughout her life. He died of diabetes complications in 1998. Also co-produced by Teja Bell, this recording succeeded in melding diverse influences into a cohesive and exemplary musical vision.

  • Kate...your voice is Heavenly!

I play this albumn in my some of my yoga classes. It's very good for sun salutations and mind escape.

  • Lovely, as usual

Kate has excelled once again. This CD is as good as "The time between" and "Deep Hearts Core". The Balcanic, Latin (mostly Spanish in this case, rather than Latinamerican) and, of course, Celtic roots are still there, but this album incorporates Indian influences and, subsequently, new instruments to her music, enrichening the multicultural background that usually underlies Kate's music. Wonderful performances by Kate and her musicians and haunting vocals. Lovely, as I expected.

  • I love this CD!

I play this CD over and over again while I'm working on my projects...It has everything...happiness, dreaming, traveling, magic. The instruments come out of (and into) the music at perfect moments...east indian, celtic, folk--it is all woven together in a beautiful, inspiring tapestry--I'll never get enough of her visions.

This is a fascinating album by an under-publicized artist. I found the instrumentation to be simply enchanting, but also found myself restless for the vocals to start. Kate's voice is simply exquisite but isn't as prominantly featured as I would have liked. I still give the work high ratings.

  • Kate Price is better than ever - love every song!
    author: Kim Johanson

I am an avid fan of Kate Price, love all her music, and in my opinion, this CD is her best to date. The melodies, music, and creative use of different instruments are lyrical, enchanting and transport you to a different place and time.

  • Enchanting and exceptional
    author: Ruben Mannstaedt

This is an exceptional CD by - in my experience - one of the foremost composers/performers of Celtic inspired music on the scene today. The title is very apt - listening to the music one is indeed carried off to a timeless isle of song. This is one CD that I do not get tired of listening to. It is very, very beautiful and emotionally powerful. Thank you, Kate.
