notes

The special, limited re-release of Kate's 1993 classic, "Grateful Heart," at a special price - eleven songs for eleven dollars! A West Coast musical travelogue: "White Raven" is a trip through the Santa Cruz Mountains, with an espresso stop at the White Raven Cafe; ""Wedding Day" is a picture-perfect, summer day on Lummi Island; "Room 304" is a birthday party at the Sun Mountain Lodge in Winthrop, Washington; "Moonrise Variations" depicts the moon dancing through lacy cedar branches in Sandy Hook; "Still Waters" is an inner quest. Plus a laid-back arrangement of Vince Guaraldi's "Skating," a couple of prayers, and a love-note.
Since "Grateful Heart" Kate has released "Incurable Romantic" (out of print), "Welcome to Piania," a collection of original piano solos, "The Seeker," orchestral music recorded with a real live orchestra and winner of the 2004 Just Plain Folks Best Instrumental Album Award, and, in Fall 2007, "inscapes," solo piano expressions of inner landscapes.

"(Angels & Eskimos) and its performance are thrilling with the deep logic of Soul. This is one of the nicest things I've heard in a long time." - Steve Goodale, goldrecord.com

"Just wanted to drop Kate Moody a note and let her know how much the listeners at Classical Faire have enjoyed the music from The Seeker." - KEDT/KVRT

Selections of Kate's piano, choral, and orchestral music are available in print from CoCo Lounge Presents at http://www.katemusic.com/sheetmusic.php.

I love your music and your body! Oh hotttt

In a time when 'new age' pretty much automatically means synthesizers, midi samples and otherwise entirely electronic keyboard-derived music that, at the best, will put you to sleep, this album comes as a much needed and exceptionally refreshing divergence. Using acoustic instruments with light to strong jazz colorings wading through deep, clear harmonic pools, Grateful Heart lives up to its name with eleven delightful tracks encompassing the smart writing of classical music, the sophistication of jazz and the mellow, accessible vibe of new age. Thanks, Ms. Moody for bringing the craft back to a genre that got lost in the arpeggios and incense.
