kate and meredith's much anticipated first release, "the beautiful" delivers folk music stripped to its barest essentials. Their intricate guitar and complex harmonies have won over a loyal following, and their engaging live performance has draw attention and praise from the midwest to the east coast. This album's intimate lyrics and unpretentious, personal sound translate into a cd that offers folk lovers an album consciously lacking in effects and mainstream sound. just two girls and their guitar.
As an upcoming force on the women's folk scene, kate and meredith recently appeared in the November independent music issue of "Girlfriends" Magazine in "Secrets of the Indie Dyke Divas" alongside Ember Swift, Doria Roberts, and Kris Delmhorst- doning the label "Musicians surviving outside of the mainstream." Their unique sound has landed them on two compilations: The Columbus Alive Local Music Meltdown, 2001 and they will appear on the upcoming "Cd Baby Top Sellers 2002 Compilation"; they are also making appearances on the folk festival circuit, beginning with the Ohio Lesbian Festival, 2001, where they were featured
artists.

Beautiful Album

This album is very appropriately titled and is no word of a lie as all the music on this album is beautiful! Great, harmonies, great guitar work, and great voices. All the required ingredients for an inspiring and enjoyable CD. Look forward to hearing more from these two in the hopefully near future.
