Katana began to love music at the age of 3 when she was introduced to Salsa and Afro-Cuban music by her father. She played along with a group of brothers who lived up the street who later became Los Lobos when she was 5. Katana began writing songs at the age of 10 and continued to do so through junior high and high school. Although she was known as a dancer, her first love was writing songs. By the time she was 16 she was composing songs along with playing piano but it wasn't until she was 21 that she began to realize how much music meant to her. It was too hard to choose between Hip Hop and R & B because they are both who she is - Hardcore and Laid the fuck back at the same time. She released her first solo cd Bad Habits in stores throughout the northern California area but is now writing songs for Urban Grooves Productions (UGP) in Minnesota for local artist. Katana is featured on Breed Nation's debut cd "Face the Nation" in Stores now, Anika's debut self-titled cd on cd baby and on Shauntae's soon to be released single "Back to My Baby". Katana is an active member of the Women in Music in Minnesota Network (WIMMN) and is currently working on her sophomore cd Hustle Forever which is a mixture of hardcore Hip Hop and old school R&B. Katana is on the brink of becoming a great songwriter as well as a groundbreaking artist and she's loving every minute of it.
