notes

From the time I was a lil blue-eyed, baby-toothed toddler, I have been singing in church, at school, and of course in the shower. A few years down the road, I found myself at Belmont University among the masses of other aspiring singers. Out of a desire to find words to sing that would adequately express my heart, I began the mystery of writing. A relatively new songwriter, I am still finding and developing my personal niche in the music world with a mix of authentic lyrics and a pop-acoustic sound. Many of the lyrics come from my own personal experiences and struggles. I want to create music that can give listeners vocabulary to express their needs and communicate with a loving God. If all I get is one minute to share Christ with someone, I want it to count. Music does that--it grabs people's attention and that split second of focus may what it takes! While I hope you enjoy my music, pleasing others is not my main priority. My greatest aspiration is to share the message of truth that I personally find in a relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ, with all who listen. Ultimately, I want all those who hear my music to give glory where glory is due..to the Creator. Essentially, He is the only critique that will matter and I want to hear, ..Well done, good and faithful servant... ************************************************************************* Essentially, I am a very good example of an underdog. For most of my life, I have picked, prodded, and pulled apart every piece of myself only to find that I can never be as good as "so and so." It wasn't until this past year when Christ really revealed a truth that has ruined me ever since. You see, I had been making everything about me--about what I didn't have and how I could never amount to anything. If I were in the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30) I would have been the servant with one talent. I looked at that small talent and thought...Yea, of course he can do something with his, he got 5 and her...no wonder she's doing great things--she got 10!! What God showed me was that I wasn't being faithful with what he'd given me. Regardless of the amount of skill, he'd given me something to use for his glory and I wasn't doing it because I didn't think it was good enough. You see, I was so focused on my insecurity that I didn't realize that God wants to shine through all of my weaknesses. When I am weak, he is strong! When I finally submitted my dreams and talents to Christ, he granted me freedom and used my meager offering in more ways than I could have imagined. In fact, God brings INCREASE when we invest into his kingdom. Be brave...be bold and walk in the gifts God's given you because he's strategically given them to you to fulfill his divine purpose.
