Kashia is a songstress and songwriter currently living in Detroit, Michigan. She is originally from Atlanta and continues to travel back and forth. Her unique brand of R&B is refreshing and honest. Kashia likes to say things from her prospective and she says that is what will set her apart from her musical peers. Inquisitive Flower is what her name means and she is every bit as unique as her name. This is most evident on her debut album entitled Bleu'. A musical mirror, Bleu reflects the ups and downs of a young woman's life. It is a collage of R&B,soul,hip-hop, and rock. Kashia is able to speak maturely about situations that affect young and old alike because of her own experiences, as well as the experiences of those around her. She says, " People will be able to relate to my music because everyone has felt joy and pain, love and love lost. So on whatever level they have experienced it, my music speaks to that experience." Kashia, at a very young age discovered the joy of singing. When she was younger she watched people like Mariah Carey and Luther Vandross and sought to become just like them. Since that time Kashia has diligently sought to better herself as a singer and artist. While growing up in Atlanta, Ga, Kashia was actively singing in school and taking vocal classes and even studied a little bit of opera. She eventually, at 12 years old, joined a girl group that worked with a few of Atlanta's local producers. She loved the group, loved recording but, later found out that it wasn't meant to be at that time. After all this, her mother decided to move to Detroit, MI. Kashia completed high school, and continued to sing and work on her craft. She was in her freshman year of college at the University of Detroit Mercy when she was approached by someone that she knew from high school who asked her to do some background vocals on their project. While in the studio she caught the attention of producer Dayla who gave her an opportunity to work on an album of her own. Kashia as a songwriter has sought out to be as real as possible. She wanted to say things that no one else has been willing to explore musically. In SHOULD I, Kashia talks about being intimate with someone that you shouldn't have. She tackles the tough subject of sexual abuse on the very moving ballad I BELIEVE YOU. Kashia recorded 63 songs in preparation for this album. She hopes to one day express to the world, the feelings expressed in the songs that didn't make the final album cut. In addition to working with Dayla, Kashia has also hooked up with hot Atlanta producer MP Original aka Mysterious on LOVE FANTASY and SOUTHERN DANCE. Prepare to be amazed when you hear what this special lady has to say!
