The Story of Too Long Away
This album was 90% recorded in my basement on an 8-track. It's true! Lots of bouncing of tracks.
Special thanks go to co-producer Tom Frodsham, David Lange of David Lange Studios, and Bob Boeck, Martin Audio.
The GUEST MUSICIANS on Too Long Away are: Dan Mohler- bass, Chris Nickels - guitar and vocals, and Patrick McCabe - slide guitar on Too Long Away.
Who the Hell am I?
I'm just a girl from Algona, raised with dirt between my toes. I'm a lifelong Northwesterner; yup, there's mold growing in my armpits.
My Influences: Too many! But I do love the Beatles.
My third CD, titled Prayers for the Broken is due out late 2008.
The next project "In Search of a Rut" is due out in 2009.
I hope you like what you hear. This is just the beginning.
I love making music. It keeps me sane.

Karla Cruz is coming!
author: jeff mcgoughKarla Cruz's "Too Long Away" is a phenomenal first effort, jonjeffries wrote on November 17, 2008, on PayPlay.fm: "Too long Away" is a brilliant first effort by this talented, Seattle based singer/songwriter and musician. Karla Cruz brings a rich musical background to her work, and when she mixes that with her artistry as a seasoned, intuitive vocalist and songwriter, the results are top notch. Karla mixes a number of influences into her music, from Pop and Rock, to the blues, sometimes with a hint of country. She has been likened to Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt, and Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders. You may hear a hint of Karen Carpenter when she was feeling soulful. This Album was released to rave reviews, but little sales. It can be tough for independent artists to get their music heard, in spite of some beliefs that the internet can make anyone a star. Marketing and Promotion takes a lot of time and effort, and as with many independent artists, she doesn't spend much time on that end of the business. She'd rather be in her studio, making new music, and that commitment is apparent in this keeper CD. There are no filler tracks here, so jump in and enjoy! Look forward to her next release due in 2009, and more to follow. One person found this review useful.

author: mWorld Class vocalist and songwriter! What else needs to be said?
a wonderful journey of songs - no moon-in-June poetry here
author: PennyToo Long Away is a wonderful journey of songs - no moon-in-June poetry here - Cruz knows how to skillfully turn a word or two or three to tell about love and pain and sorrow and betrayal and sadness - the real stuff of life - and these words dance on the most amazing melodies and rhythms - all brought together by Karla's heavenly voice & skillful musicianship. Too Long Away has become a favorite in my collection - I listen to it regularly.
