notes
Karen grew up in Northern Virginia. She began playing the guitar and writing songs at the age of 14. Her first performance was at the Cellar Door in Georgetown at the age of 17. She continued performing during college years and then took a long hiatus while working on her career in special education. In 1996, she began performing again after a friend dragged her from the house to play at an open mike at Borders Books and Music to break the ice and get her back on the stage.
She recorded her first CD (Minding My Business) in November of 1999 on the back porch of her home. Her current CD "Close Enough" was completed in late December, 2002 and hosts local artists for backup from the Richmond, Virginia area including Doug Austin, Daniel Clarke, Frank Coleman, Eileen Edmonds, Jackie Frost, George Garrett, Bill Gurley, Danny Hughes, and Robbie Sinclair.
Karen's songs are best described as "contemporary folk" with a heartfelt message and timeless appeal. They are well-crafted, original, and entertaining. She will touch the hearts of all with her lyrics and music of love, life in the fast lane and just plain living.
Karen plays a Martin, 000-28H or a Taylor signature edition guitar. Off stage she can be found sporting a Baby Martin on the porch or at work. Karen performs most venues either solo or with Douglas Austin on mandolin, mando-cello, guitar and vocals. Visit her at karentrump.com.

Karen's music is some of the best folk I have ever heard.
author: Bud CothernThis CD is mellow to listen to. Played it at work on my computer and people came by to ask who the artist was and where they could get the album. They were surprised to hear that she was a local artist in Richmond, VA where I live.
Great! Recommend this CD!
