notes
Karen Frisk is a Jazz Vocalist, having performed in several areas in the country with local, and world-renowned jazz artists.
After participating in her youth with local church choirs, local community musical theatre productions, she studied classical voice as a teenager, and jazz/pop voice in her mid-20’s. Karen was selected to tour Bavaria and perform with the Concordia Youth Choir, sponsored through Boston Conservatory.
She has shared the stage with many artists in Southern New England and the East Coast throughout the years… including, Artie Shaw Orchestra leader, Dick Johnson; world-renowned pianist, Dave McKenna; and guitarist, Gray Sargent, (currently with Tony Bennett’s orchestra).
Karen has a very diverse sound. Her vocal styles range from soft, breathy ballads, to heart-wrenching blues; sexy Latin rhythms, to up-tempo swingin’ grooves. She loves to bend the notes, play with the timing, and keep swingin’… what a percussive rhythm machine!
