notes
When Kaptain Nemo first appeared on the scene, mixtapes were actually cassettes. Since those days, the enigmatic underwater MC has diligently honed his craft, putting out a message with the psychic sonar that is at once completely unique and totally universal. Occasionally he surfaces and brings to light the deep sea boogie and the results of his secret audio experiments.
The Legend of Kaptain Nemo : Official Mixtape hosted by MC Serch (3rd Bass, Ego Trip's (White) Rapper Show) brings the subaquatic body rock from the Kaptain and a gang of talented MCs including Vakill (Molemen), Sharkula (aka Thigahmahjiggee), PJ Sumroc, Smitty Roe and more. Most of the production is handled by R-Rock and Remote Control Frequencies, with a few beats from notable underground producers like Seep and Zombie Mountain.
Host MC Serch gives his usual distinct persona to the proceedings, whereby it is run through the RCF wall of noise filters creating a virtual hip-hop Max Headroom such as on "This is Not a Game Aaatlaaaaantis". If anybody deserves their own pirate TV station, clearly it is this gentleman. His guest verse on "For the Love of Hip-Hop" (alongside the Kaptain and PJ Sumroc) shows that being an MC is something you never completely walk away from.
Other tracks like "Giant Fucking Squid" mix old skool and new; fusing electronic beats with b-boy styles and some h20 flavor. "Kiss My Butt" is the grand finale of underwater madness featuring Chicago's legendary homeless MC Sharkula (aka Thigahmahjiggee), Kaptain Nemo and PJ Sumroc all getting down for their crown. Or rather their aquatic headwear, if you will.
