notes
Peace workers and modern folk musicians, Paul Kamm and Eleanore MacDonald have been performing original, contemporary folk music together for 21 years. Their music, a blend of contemporary and traditional styles, is graced by their exquisite harmony, compelling songwriting, deceptively simple arrangements and intricate guitar work.
Hailing from Nevada City, CA., they've been applauded throughout the US as well as overseas for the lyrical content of their songs as well as their vocal blend... They have a haunting style which weaves their harmonies into a rich tapestry of guitar and storytelling
Kerrville, Telluride and Rocky Mtn. New Folk award winners, Kamm and MacDonald have also been working tirelessly for peace and justice and the last few years have found them working quite often alongside their respected elder; raconteur, wobblie and rabble rouser U. Utah Phillips. They've been asked to perform anywhere from the steps of the CA capitol building in Sacramento, Ca. for an anti-war rally, for Dennis Kucinich's campaign, to benefits for Amnesty International and Physician's for Social Responsibility, the Eyes Wide Open exhibit... Busy in '04 on the festival circuit, they found themselves sharing a late night stage at the Kate Wolf Festival in Laytonville, CA with Eliza Gilkyson, Jimmy LaFave, Steve Earle and Jackson Browne for a tribute to Woody Guthrie.
They've been heard and seen widely on the airwaves, from Amy Goodman's 'Democracy Now', NPR stations, community radio, the DishNet satellite 'Acoustic Crossroads' channel to various PBS specials - featured twice as performers on "California Heartland" and have had their song "Calling on Love" featured on a 'Visionaries' segment. Since 1987 they have independently produced 7 albums of original music, receiving critical acclaim from the various trade reviewers. Their newest CD, 'Fool's Paradise', released in '03, features guest appearances by Nina Gerber, Peter Grant (New Riders of the Purple Sage), the late Keith Allen, Rob Bonner, Mikail Graham and a stunning acapella version of Woody Guthrie's "I've Got to Know".
Paul and Eleanore are currently at work on their 8th independently produced CD, as well as on a project of mostly previously unrecorded songs written by Utah Phillips. Look for them both in '05.
This CD, CALLING ON LOVE, features Paul Kamm on guitars and vocals, Eleanore MacDonald on vocals, Alasdair Fraser on fiddle and viola, Rich Stanmyre on bass, Dave Smith on piano and Mikail Graham on guitars, keyboards, atmospherics and rhythmic bits.

author: TeresaThis CD is my 1st from this artist and I must say that I am absulutely in awe of the talent and harmony that these artists share. This CD is wonderful for about any setting I can think of. It just seems to relax me, uplift me, and to take me to a peaceful place. My 2 month old nephew even seems to benifit from it's soothing abilities. I will be getting more CD's from this artist in the future and I am currently recommending them to all of my frinds and family.
