notes
Brewing up sounds in his secret lab for over 10 years, perfecting and evolving an organic psychedelic dubby signature, Curtis Humphrey, AKA "Kalpataru Tree", delivers a unique sonic journey saturated and infused with soul and spirit. Seamlessly weaving organic bass and guitar into creatively inspired digital production, subtle melodies and shifting frequencies gently guider the listener deep into the endless realms of imagination. All songs are produced in a secret hidden Yurt in the forest, near Mt. Shasta, inside groves of cedar and pine trees, and underneath a crystaline night sky. It is this environment that infuses the music with its intention: to capture the frequencies of nature and the mystery of human experience into soul-stirring sonic masterpieces of wonder.
Hailed by many as the one of the greatest chillout releases of 2007, Kalpataru Tree remains under the radar. Aside from the track "Moonbloom" released on the compilation "Moonshadow Beats", and a digital release on san francisco's now defunct "fakescience.com", Kalpataru Tree has remained independent from the labels, perhaps because it doesn't quite fit the mold. Half-electronic, half organic, an orchestration of synthesizers, chill beats, live bass lines, and guitar and voice instrumentation - its truly genre defying music. Even if the production may be one bar shy of immpecably mastered studio-produced digital calibre, the quality of soul that leaks through and touches the listener makes up 10 fold, creating a lasting impression and the reputation that has created this underground enigma.

warm & seductive trippy chill
author: Trevor LeaSFotED really deserves to be re-released as a proper pressed cd...the use of dubbed bass & guitar brings the feelings to life...this album has healing potential :)
Superbly crafted ambient dub
author: CameronI love this album. Perfect for warming up on cold and rainy days, this music infects you with its thick bass grooves and a meticulously crafted psychedelic headspace of delays and effects. Every element in these songs fits perfectly together to make for some really deep, soulful chillout. Highly recommended!
Fantastic chillout.
author: LruskinThis is one of the best psy-chill albums that I have heard in the last several years. Even if its not entirely original, the atmsopheres and the organic instrumentation are so good that it will leave you breathless. My only suggestion would be that the artist press a nicer insert and make a hand stamped face for the cd. Just because its not factory pressed doesn't mean it can't be nice to look at. But other than that, its really about the music. And for that reason alone, you need to support this artist and get him on the map !!! This album really belongs on one of the top euro psychedelic chill labels. Its flat out brilliant !
