notes
Kacey Musgraves second solo album. Her first was "Movin' On" and was released in 2001. This album, "Wanted: One Good Cowboy" was voted "2003 Young Adult Album of the Year" and the first track "Life of the Old Cowhand," written by Kacey and her good friend Miranda Lambert, was voted "2003 Young Adult Song of the Year" by the Lone Star Music Assoc. at Billy Bob's Texas in Ft. Worth. In fact, this song was included on a compilation album with 20+ other talented western music artists released May 30, 2003 at Carnegie Hall in NYC, in an effort to raise funds for cancer research.
Kacey has performed at some of the top venues, including George Bush's 2000 Black Tie and Boots Inaugural Ball in Washington, D.C., and was a featured performer at the 2002 Winter Olympics. You might have seen her yodeling and playing her mandolin for Matt Lauer and Katie Couric on NBC's Today Show on the last day of Olympic coverage.
Kacey's inspiration to yodel came from the "Yodel Queen of Texas" herself - Janet McBride. She has also been inspired by Devon Dawson and her guitar and mandolin teacher, John DeFoore.
Kacey is the youngest person ever to be awarded by the Academy of Western Artists "Yodeler of the Year" in 2002.

amazing!
author: Jasmine JonesWow, kacey's voice is amazing! I'm 13 and just released my first CD on CDbaby, so I was looking at other young artists, and this is definitely the best I've seen, truly remarkable! I love to practice and worm up by singing with kacey's songs. My favorite songs are Life of an Old Cowhand & Wanted: One Good Cowboy but all of them sound fantastic!
