notes
When she recorded this CD Kacey Musgraves was in the 8th grade in Mineola, Texas. Kacey was selected to attend the 2002 Winter Olympics in Utah, where she performed with the Wild West Show in Heber from February 6 - 26th, as well as other venues during the celebration. The highlight of the trip was appearing on the NBC "Today" Show, serenading Katie Couric and Matt Lauer in 18 degree weather!
Kacey performed with the Bar J Wranglers from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Kacey was also invited by the City of Dallas as a guest performer for the Olympic Torch Relay Train as it came through Dallas on December 12th, 2001.
In November 2001, Kacey won the title "International Youth Yodeling Champion" in Tucson, Arizona at the Western Music Association Awards Show. In May she won the title "2002 Patsy Montana National Yodeling Champion." She also won the "2002 Patsy Montana National Yodeling Championship."
Kacey's first solo CD, "Movin' On" won "2001 Teen Album of the Year" from the Lone Star Music Association, and is currently #10 on the listing of top 10 western albums in "Robe Burns."
She has performed at some of the top country venues including Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri, Johnnie High's Country Music Revue at Arlington Music Hall, Lone Star Music Association's Award Show at Billy Bobs in Ft. Worth, Grapevine Opry, Cattle Baron's Ball fund raisers and many Amtrak celebrations. She also performs (schedule permitting) at the monthly "Buckaroos" gathering at the Cowtown Opry in the Fort Worth Stockyards, where she is mentored by some wonderful folks, such as Janet McBride (aka "The Yodel Queen of Texas") and Devon Dawson (aka "Jessie The Yodeling Cowgirl.)
Kacey performed for First Lady Laura Bush at the opening of the "Rainbow Room" for abused children. And, as half of the duo, the Texas Two Bits, Kacey performed at the Black Tie & Boots Inaugural Ball in Washington, D.C. last January on stage with Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel. She also performed on the same venue with Clint Black, Tanya Tucker, Ricky Skaggs, Mark Chestnut, Gary P. Nunn, and Holly Dunn.
Kacey enjoyed performing with Don Edwards and Waddie Mitchell at the "Spirit of the American West" Military Tour in Maryland and Pennsylvania in August 2002.

This is Country
author: David NisbetA great Traditional Country album from a bright young talent in Country.
CD is so Good!!
author: Mike RobertsReally enjoy the Music. I Been Everywhere, a real gem of a song. Kacey has a voice and a delivery that really works. She could sing Happy Birthday and it would sell. Cowboy Moon, Movin' On...This girl was born to sing. And it's really great to see these youngsters, singing old western music and country music. Very happy with the CD. Peace...Mike
My kids love it!
author: John CockmanOur entire family loves this CD! Our two daughters singing along with all of the songs, especially I've Been Everywhere and Yodeling Cowgirls. Our 5 year old cries whenever she listens to Cowboy Moon. It's been one of our best CD purchases ever!
I love to sing along with kacey's CD, she has an amazing voice!
author: Jasmine JonesWow, kacey's voice is amazing! I'm 13 and just released my first CD on CDbaby, so I was looking at other young artists, and this is definitely the best I've seen, truly remarkable! I'm a little confused though, was kacey 12 when she recorded this? according to a post, kacey's CD was recorded in 2001, and according to kacey's website, she's 16 now (2005) so that would make her 12 when she recorded this, but then her "notes" say that she's 14, and she recorded her other CD in 2003, and she's 14 in those "Notes" too?? Well, however old she was, it sounds fantastic!
More Teen Talent...And She's the Real Thing
author: JohnsterFirst, don't be mislead by the misinformation on the CDBaby Page--this is a 2001 album, NOT 1999. Right across the old Confederacy, very young teens have emerged over the past 3-4 years (most of them through CDBaby, as it happens) and are ready to be heard side-by-side with the established stars of the genre. This CD is a pure winner and it serves notice that Kacey Musgraves is going to figure in the sorting out of who goes to the top and who doesn't. Her wonderful yodeling makes me smile, but it also makes me sad that she won't get to duet on something with Don Walser, the ailing King of Texas yodelers. It's also fun to hear her take on some old standards, including LeRoy Van Dyke's signature "Auctioneer," on which Kacey acquits herself marvelously. This CD was recorded when Kacey was only 14 and the songs she wrote or co-wrote are just OK, but at her age, she has time to develop the songwriting chops. The Voice is not a developmental project--it's a GIFT. Thanks for sharing, kid.
"Patsy Montana - Look Out"!
author: J.F.KopeckWhile going through some Western Swing sites I ran across these CDs by Kacey, listened to a few songs and was sold!Boy can this kid belt them out,I always thought Roy Rodgers could yodel, this little girl runs a close second and I wanted to hear more so much that I ordered both of her CDs and feel it was money well spent. What a future this talented singer has. Even my Grandchildern enjoy this stuff.I have be collecting and listening to Western Music for almost 50 years and I'll put Kacey Musgraves right up there with Bob Wills, Milton Brown and Spade Cooley. Never change or trade your style for the modern junk and your fans will follow you for years to come!
A new favorite of ours!
author: DoubleTakeWe now have both CD's. We like the fast talking on "I've Been Everywhere," and, ""The Auctioneer." The yodelling is also great. One of the best we've ever heard.
