Got my bottle of Scotch and the furniture moved
author: MacncletusAbout half the album, ya just want to grab your bottle of single malt, turn the lights off (except that flickering neon sign outside your motel window), sit at your cluttered table and sip lightly from the rocks glass - or straight out of the bottle. Start to conjure up past loves, missed oppurtunities or your favorite laid to rest 'man's best friend'. The other half, however, move every bit of furniture out of the way that you may trip over and go ahead and wear a hole in the carpet rippin' it up like ya never have before. When the cops come to tell ya to turn it down, just don't answer the door! This album is a fine piece of work. Take Tom Waits, Michelle Shocked and Jimmy Rogers (doing his best Elvis impersonation), throw it all in a musical blender. And just for kicks, toss in some Jorma Kaukonen and pour it over a glass full of gravel and you've got the best damn musical drink ever made! That's Jeremy Wallace's My Lucky Day. I am so impressed with this album, I'm speechless - and that doesn't come often. There really is no way to compare this album to others, but I described it as best as I can!
Absolutely amazing - don't miss it!
author: Arlene StaffordEvery note...every word...cuts to the gut. Play this album 5 times and you'll still find more that grips and rips right down to your soul. I thought I was too old to hear such good stuff come around again!
van ronks finest student
author: philjeremy is truly the greatest student of blues fingerstylist dave van ronk. He has his enthusiasm and he really plucks those strings. I have both this one and his other cd, can't wait till he comes out with another one.
This is a must have cd .
