With enough passion, pizzazz, class and sass to satisfy
anybody's appetite, the Just Desserts always will always give you
what you deserve (hence the name!)
Fiery and festive, and equally elegant and romantic, when Lisa Shawley
(accordion) and Michael Shay (cello) play together, it is always fun.
Often bringing along a drummer or percussionist to encourage more dancing, they also have been seen collaborating with marionette puppeteers, professional dancers, and theatrical troupes in a unique “Old World Arts” production.
Their first 7-song EP “Meet Me at the Playground” was released on
Valentine’s Day 2007, and is available for purchase (insert link) on this website.
To taste the Just Desserts is to get the sense that
somewhere, sometime you have been here before. Or
at least part of you has. Is it a memory you can't place?
Or is it your imagination, a daydream...a fantasy?
Whether you like the heat and longing of an
Argentinian tango, the care-free strains of an American
swing tune, the romance of French and Italian bistro music,
or the trance of a Persian melody,
here you will find something to please or tease your tastes.
With a large repertoire of songs from around the world,
and an infectious passion for music, the Just Desserts are
one in a million, not to be missed, and not to be forgotten.
The Just Desserts are available for dances, private
parties, weddings (traditional or custom programs available,)
restaurant/ bar gigs, gallery openings, private serenade
sessions, group sing-alongs, music for children, seniors,
theatrical collaborations and film scores.
Lisa Shawley is a professional music therapist and
performer with a degree from SUNY New Paltz.
A macrobiotic chef and practitioner of the healing arts,
Lisa also writes original songs, plays piano, flute,
djembe, sings, and has a wild hair or two.
Michael Shay is a music educator and classically trained
performer with a music degree from Prescott College.
He plays cello, guitar, bass, keyboards, is a singer, songwriter,
and bandleader (www.michaelshay.com). He teaches Music Together,
an early childhood music program through his Third Coast
School of Music (www.thirdcoastschool.com,) has released
two other original CD's, and is a bit jealous of how many wild
hairs Lisa has.
