notes

The long-awaited release of The Junkman (Donald Knaack {ka-Nak}) is finally here! Twelve completely opriginal, innovative, dance-oriented tracks performed on over 600 pieces of junk and recycled materials - guaranteed to be a listening experience like you've never had before. The CD was mixed by reknown producer David Kahne (Sublime, Sugar Ray, Paul McCartney, Cher and more...).

The Junkman's music transcends all styles as has been proven by the varied concert venues he's performed including The Vans Warped Tour, The Great Went and Lemonwheel with Phish, 2003 Sundance Film Festival, World Environment Day at the United Nations, Kansas City International Jazz Festival, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, CBS Sunday Morning and more....

Here's what the critics say:
"A virtuoso percussionist" - New York Times
"...unique and wholly cool" - Brat Magazine
"It's Stomp on acid!" - Amazon.com customer
"The Junkman's music and his instruments are provocative and entirely innovative." - Guia delGocio, Madrid, Spain
"he's the Max Roach of the dumpster" - The Washington Post

In Junk Music 2, the titles of most trakcks reflect The Junkman's concern with the environment and to us all becoming better environmental citizens. "The Bushes don't protyect the trees", "SUVs SUCK gasoline", "Styrofoam never dies", "What the world needs now is packaging, more packaging", and "Mantra for a polluter's grandchild" are examples. Bumper stickers of "SUVs SUCK gasoline" are available at www. junkmusic.org.

The Junkman is the spokesperson for recycling and better environmental citizenry in his home state of Vermont for the nstate's Agency of Natural Resources. The cover art on Junk Music 2 by David Wien reflects our society's infatuation with packaging, manufacturing excess, designing products with short life cycles and waste in general. The new CD has been manufactured with cardboard packaging to minimize the amount of plastic used.
