A big and pleasant surprise
author: Simon CrossI bought a copy of this cd in the UK, having been very surprised to read that Julia is the former Julia McGirt who released two singles in the UK in the mid-1980s, Breakin' Down (Sugar Samba) and I'm So Happy. This album is nicely varied, and Julia is strong throughout. The band is good, never overshadowing Julia. The album covers a wide range, from the sophisticated piano-bar sound of Guess Who I Saw Today to the uptempo get-on-the-floor of One Night Only. This is a very welcome return to a great vocalist, and hopefully this will herald much more Julia in the future.
SUPERB SOUL SINGER
author: JEAN LACOMMEGreat soul by a wonderful singer. Fine arrangements too. The band is tight.
