This record was extremly well done. Each song had its own identity and vibe. I would venture to say it was beautiful and truthful and heart wrenching at the same time and its been in my cd changer for a minute. Great find!
musik for the soul
author: dj internationalthis was a great record. i discoverd it when a friend of mine from chicago had it on in the background while we were talkin. i asked who she was listening to she said "this guy named "jsoul" from baltimore he kinda reminds me of d'angelo and musiq"... and the rest was history. i brought the record online and gawd damn i was blown away!! smooth vocals, strong song writing, and tight production. this is just good music. i suggest to anybody in listening range cop this record and take a musical journey it will be worth it!
SIMPLY AMAZING
author: wes J.L.well balanced well written and gawd damn the production!!! this record had everthing from up-tempo hip-hop flavored beat's to very inciteful meaningful lyric's to just some good old fashion slow soul love tune's.this guy has an amazing voice one deep rooted in marvin gaye and al green with a little musiq... he's one of the best i've heard who isnt yet signed by a major recording label. i dont live in baltimore but i've been there and when i here his music i dont see all the negative things people say about baltimore. i see a soul stirring city that produces great talent's. i rave about this record becuase it's just that good.. it was simply amamzing
Groovin'
author: Tara BIf you're looking for Soul/R&B with substance - grown folks music - this is it. Production is creative and skillful (not over-produced like so much R&B these days) creating just the right accompaniment to JSoul's amazing voice. I've had this CD on repeat since I got it.
A solid DEBUT album from JSOUL!
author: MutuniA solid DEBUT album from JSOUL. Each of these songs could fit into any radio programmer's mix very easily! Favorite cuts for me included: 'Party', 'Such a Shame'(smile - JSOUL was channeling D'Angelo with this track!), 'Soul Fly' (VERY COOL, I think this will be my SUMMER JAM in 05!) & 'Magnificent Women'. The 'BONUS' track was a nice wrap up to the album and I hope, if my schedule allows, to one day see you perform. ALL THE BEST....!
Real Soul
author: Gary FThis album is really, really nice! A real funk/soul workout. He's definately created his own style musically and strong vocals to top it off with.Shame major labels don't support good music anymore(did they ever)as he would definately have been snapped up, but sadly artists have to do all the ground work now.But that definately separates the real artists from the false, So I'll definately be promoting this Album to all and sundry.Favourite tracks...Party,,magnificent women, but solid album throughout.
Unbeleivably soulful sound.
author: Raymond DonaldsonI am an avid music lover and Urban Retrospective is the BEST album I have heard in a while. I could not believe that someone from Baltimore of all places could produce such a dynamic musical masterpiece. This album's range reaches all emotional chords. From "Such A Shame" and "Who Are They", this is just a great, great album!
One of the best underground albums of 2004-2005!!!
author: Angela DeanThe music on this album is magnificent. It is one of those rare CD's that you could listen to from start to finish. Honestly. I am so looking forward to hearing more work from J-Soul. Urban Retrospective in my opinion would have easily gone multi platinum if it was backed by a major label. But with good work like this, it won't be long until J-Soul will be on a major.
He's got a soulful yet sexy sound
author: Tereasa l.this album is great i just love it. it has a good flow of r&b hip-hop soul in the beginning and then goes into this laid back sexy ballad thing. it sounds like baltimore could have somthing going on with jsoul. im loving it!

Now we talkin', homeboy got feelin'.
author: www.rolandbowman.comNow we talkin', homeboy got feelin'. Yes I can feel da Baltimore Streets for some reason with this music that is unlike any other I have heard. It yet reminds me of the 60's and 70s. Still it is of the 10's, and is not a "sounds like" cd. I really want this cd and it will appeal to the majority of cultures! Thank You! JSOUL!
A great first album worthy of adding to your collection
author: Dj OceanChecked out this CD online and I'm feel'n it. JSOUL has a refreshing approach to some familiar concepts. The production is really creative. Each song feels has a different vibe. The album may not blow you away but it will definitely keep your interest and cuts like "Who are They" will grow on you more and more with each listen. Definitely another artist to watch for out of the B-More camp.
