notes
I wrote the first half of this album after returning from Iraq in 2005. At the time, I was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington, 15 minutes away from the hospital where I was born. Five months in Iraq away from family, friends, and guitar led me to plenty of nights hunched over an old 4-track recorder after I returned home.
At the beginning of 2006 I moved to North Carolina, where I am now stationed. I managed to fly home for a weekend last October and record another five songs. The two halves of the record were recorded a year apart but they share a similar theme.
Thanks for taking the time to listen.

i listened to the song 'home' all summer. (got it from rcrdlbl.com) it's one of my top 10 favorite songs ever, so i was very excited to get the cd and had incredibly high expectations. i was blown away. it begins amazingly with first and flight and 'westport', 'commerce street' and 'madness' are my favorites right now. thank you so much for your music. sincerely, thank you ps. convince kexp to hand over those songs for download/purchase!!
Lovely
author: JeffGreat for those late, lazy evenings and nights. Lyrics, voice, and music are all incredible. Definitely more than i was hoping for!

Reminds me of Home
author: markI am a newly transplanted young professional. During those evenings when the wind blows a certain direction and I miss home, I really like listening to your album. It is beautiful. Thank you!
Gorgeous
author: Chris C.This is a beautiful, stunning album. The songs are so pretty but never precious, his voice has the hushed nature of early Elliot Smith and the power of Mark Kozelek (Sun Kil Moon/RHP) but Joshua has his own style and phrasing. I found out about JM on KEXP and am very thankful. The album is a stunner and I recommend it without reservation.
Superb!
