It all started a few years ago in a little town called Long Beach, Long Island. Song writers Michael Wagner and Josh Alpert of "White Shabbos" fame were brainstorming some new ideas when out of the blue a Johnny Cash song started playing off in the distance. "My favorite Song" Josh said as he began pickin’ his banjo. Just then the faint sound of a bagpipe was also heard playing in the wind. "OH WOW" says Josh “another family favorite”. He looked at his watch. SHABBOS, the Jewish day of Rest, was starting soon. BOOM!!!! A crack of lightning strikes the very chair he is sitting in. BOOM!!!! The thunder roars over the house. Out from the dust Joshua sits up. That Johnny Cash song is playing louder than before. The explosion of a million Bagpipers are heard!!!And from upwards a voice calls out...”You Joshua, You will teach the Jews about the Holy Shabbos. Through Bagpipes, Tin whistles, and Country Music the world will know about G-d’s great Day. You will be called MR. SHABBOS!!!!
Josh looked up and saw the Great Man Upstairs!!! Michael Wagner himself!!! Right there upstairs in his room, planning the great revolution in Jewish music. And so it was. Mr. Shabbos has been teaching the young, old, and even middle aged how to reach their Jewish potential all while keeping their toes tappin, knees slapping and lips a-lickin’.

Surprising in style, Jewish in contents
author: Christian HenkeFor some years I was watching for a successor-CD of Josh Alpert's project "White Shabbos". Even though this first album sounded like a garage-rock experiment it was a novelty with real excitement. Now Mr. Alpert aka Mr. Shabbos did most of the work alone and in a qualified studio. What remained is the fresh and unexpected sound to the very Jewish lyrics. I have great pleasure to listen to this follow-up album of unusual Jewish music! Thanks Josh!!
