notes
HAILING FROM the small town of Moscow, Idaho, Josh Ritter's songs are a rare gift of natural, intuitive beauty. His debut album, GOLDEN AGE OF RADIO, is collection that retains the feel and flow of another era; catch-tunes and earnest lullabies that rekindle the warm glow of a young Springsteen or Leonard Cohen, where jukebox melodies and AM/FM radio tunings find their home alongside acoustic guitars, organ murmurs, and subtle strings. These are songs written at 3am in an empty hotel room by a twenty five year-old with a maturity and grace well beyond his years - "a star in the making" (San Francisco Chronicle).
THIS YEAR has seen Josh splitting his time between the US and Ireland, where he got his start touring with The Frames and is now selling out national tours of large clubs and small theaters. The first single from the album, "Me & Jiggs," entered the Irish charts at #40, and the energy and intimacy of his live shows has been compared to David Gray's rise to fame. Not bad for a kid from Idaho.
