notes
Jon was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, is a self-taught musician whose first job came at the age of thirteen. He plays like he was born with the saxophone in his mouth. Some who have heard him compare his rich,
distinctive, powerful sound to that of Gene Ammons, Plas Johnson and David "Fathead" Newman.
For over forty years the unique, powerful sound of Jon Smith's saxophone has been sought out by some of the biggest names in the music industry. Edgar Winter's White Trash, Grammy Award winning group, Toto, Boz Skaggs, Philip Glass, Dr. John, Randy Newman, Rascals, Sarah Vaughn, Johnny Winter, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Doobie Brothers, and European Superstar, Peter Maffay.
