notes
Growing up in Toronto, Canada, Jonah was highly influenced by the hightening rave and electronic music culture of the mid 90's. Inspired by the darker side of things and the incresingly fast and bass-driven sounds of jungle and drum n bass, he began DJing in 1998.
While studying "sonic art " at the Ontario College of Art and meticulously sharpening his DJing skills, Jonah began producing his own music in 2000. Joined forces with good friend Tomoko they also began organizing gatherings of their own and working closely with the Om summer solstice festival. It was in conjunction with Om that they formed the GNOME collective and began combining their drum n bass focused events with ideas of sustainable creativity, social awareness and care for the earth.
Jonah has since independantly released two albums of original material, has posted many other unreleased tracks on the newly formed website www.hotpierecords.com, and has performed numerous times throughout North America and abroad at events in Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, New York, Nevada, Thailand and Japan.
The essential goal of Jonah's work is to welcome others into mysterious underground places. To reveal beauty in the darkness and to make bodies, minds and feet resonate with the harder, faster and less conventional rhythms of nature.

deep & dark cinematic, sub-aquatic soundscapes with rythmic sophistication
author: Paul ZulaufHas a mythical, cinematic feel, with a depth of emotional atmospheres, primarily keeping the listener suspended in the fluid balance between drum-blitz-driven hype and spacey-intra-uteral warmth. Sizzling electro-grooves pulsate smoothly in and out of presence with undulating strands of bass weaving fluidly underneath the rich tapestry of rash drum flares and hop-stepping melodies that make the hairs in one's ear-canal stand on end. At times, one feels lost in the depths of the sublime aquatic voyage the CD takes you through, but the light and optimism of catchy uplifting grooves and rythms keeps you from sinking too deep into the caressing tentacles of Another World, Another Time.
