notes
John Lyell has been a Musician since 1984. From his recording studio in Minneapolis, MN., he writes, records, engineers, and produces thought provoking New Age, Ambient Electronic, SpaceMusic, Film, Acoustic, Psychedelic Rock and Hard Rock music.
Inspired by his first introduction to SpaceMusic back in 1994 ("Hearts of Space" Radio Program), John immersed himself in Ambient - SpaceMusic and started dabbling in Graphic Arts with his first Macintosh computer in June of 1997. With heavy interests in Astronomy, the concept of Time Travel, SpaceMusic and related Cosmic subject matter, Lyell used these interests as inspiration to create "Cosmic" and "Surreal" Digital Art. John also started composing a wide range of Ambient Electronic and SpaceMusic at this time.
As a musician, John has previously released 2 Ambient - SpaceMusic CD's commercially (with friend Brent Reiland): "Wormholes" in 1998 and "Synthetic Universe" in 2002.......both of which have received critical acclaim and radio airplay in the U.S., Europe, and Australia on syndicated Ambient and New Age radio shows.
John continues to create "Cosmic" and "Surreal" Digital Art and write various styles of music at his studio in Mpls., MN.

A profound expression of the cosmic song.
author: eTripperJohn Lyell, first came to my attention, while reading a review at Ambient Visions website and caught a glimpse of the cover art for Lyell's "Dimensions". I read the interview about John's music, and after listening to a few short samples, needless to say, I was enthralled. What graced my headphones was: a profound journey, deep into the galactic hinterlands. The music seemed to almost have a synced time-signature with some distant, galactic pulsar. This is prime-stuff (ear-candy) for those, who dabble in the introspective permutations, of univeral thought. The CD cover is yet another fantastic extension of the music awaiting the listener inside, and certainly adds to the over-all appeal of the production. Lyell's collaborations with Brent A. Reiland are equally great. This solo effort shows the conceptual maturity, that this artist has evolved into. I look forward to his new projects, and highly recommend "Dimensions".
Very nice balance
author: Dave TenclayI ordered this cd after hereing a few samples on John's myspace site. I have to say it has stayed in heavy rotation both at the office and at home. Perfect for either thought inducing background, or deep listening. A great example of "undiscovered" talent.
Close your eyes and float amongst the stars.
author: Simon PascoeI bought this after seeing it recommended on the ambient email list, and it's one of my favourite purchases of the year. Beautiful floating pads and subtle subdued rhythms, it sounds like floating in the cosmos in shimmering starlight. Thoroughly recomended.
