Joe Portman and the SUNDOWNERS have played in and around San Antonio, and from Dallas to Brownsville, since 1970. They have played every major club, plus SEAWORLD, plus many downtown hotels. Before forming the SUNDOWNERS, Joe picked lead guitar for some of the following singing stars during special appearances.....ERNEST TUBB, CHARLIE WALKER, JOHNNY SEAY, DON CHERRY, WARREN SMITH, GEORGE JONES, FREDDIE FENDER, LEON PAYNE, DON GIBSON, BOBBY HELMS (FRAULEIN), WILLIE EATON, RAY SCZEPANIK & THE TEXAS TOP HANDS, and CLARENCE SHIELDS, a well known south Texas singer.... he's 1 year older than Willie !
