Joe McDermott, the short story.
Born in a small Mid-western town, Joe McDermott moved to Texas as fast as he could. It was while completing a fine arts degree at the University of Texas that Joe fell in love with the live music scene of Austin, Texas. Soon after graduation, Joe immersed himself quickly into the rock scene but also name for himself as the premier songwriter and performer for the school-aged set. He was barely out of college when he penned the local favorite tunes, “Don’t Drop a Brick on Your Foot” and “My Family Car is a Helicopter”. For the first ten years of Joe’s musical career, he kept his music exclusively in the Austin area in order to raise his family. However after earning numerous national songwriting awards, he now travels from South Texas to North Toronto! The recognition continues to grow. His hit song, “Baby Kangaroo” won second place in the children’s division of the International Songwriting Contest. In regards to his career in music, Joe recently said,
“As nice as it is to be praised for my music, my favorite experience is with my guitar before a crowd of children, because I can never predict what kind of zany magic will unfold."

Everywhere You Go
author: Rita CooperMy 8 year old daughter absolutely LOVES this CD. We bought it because we heard "Baby Kangaroo" on XM Satellite Radio. As it turns out she loves ALL the songs on the CD. Now we never listen to XM Satellite Radio anymore when we're in the car -- we only listen to "Everywhere You Go!" It's great!

Brilliant music for families
author: LucasJoe McDermott writes these imaginitive, positive songs that kids RELATE too. There's nothing insipid, nothing preachy and nothing overly schmaltzy. Next he works with some of the best musicians in one of the most musical towns in the US, Austin, Texas, and produces these songs perfectly. There are simple, acoustic arrangements and there are numbers played by string quartets and big bands. "Baby Kangaroo" is one of the most perfectly executed children's songs out there. The lyrics are hysterical, the almost-a-capella production dynamite and the musical structure splendid and sophisticated. If you're even THINKING about getting this CD which, apparently, you are, go ahead and do it. You will not be disappointed!
