notes

Mylodic Isle, is a compilation of traditional Irish tunes and songs which Jennifer, & the boys of County O'Cean have gathered from their experiences, travels and friends. While they have tried to maintain and adhere to the traditional aspects of Irish music, they still have their own strong, unique style, which shines through in their tune and song selections.

Mylodic Isle features over half dozen traditional Irish songs, including the haunting song “She Moved through the Fair” as well as what Jennifer calls “Gypsy-O” which is taken from the traditional song “Wraggle-Taggle Gypsy-O” again, revamped to fit her earthy and bohemian style. This is a wonderful old song that tells the tale of a woman who chooses love from the heart - rather than love for comfort, money and situation. For sound clips - go to www.JenniferMylod.com!

“Star of the County Down” takes a new spin under the guitar wizardry of John Wilson’s fingerstyle, 12 string guitar work, as well as “Loch Lommond”, which glimmers with a beautiful new edge, while still maintaining it’s true traditional essence.

Jennifer and the Boys of County O’Cean (aka -Phil & John) are thrilled to have guest musicians performing with them on Mylodic Isle – which they felt helped bring the Irish Pub feel - where the only thing missing - when you're listening... is a Guinness on tap!

Instrumental sets include “Battle of Augrum–Sligo Maid”, “King of the Fairies”, “Blarney Pilgrim-Joy of my Life”, “Morrison’s Jig” and many more. They have also included a lovely Uilleann pipe tune - “March of the King of Laios” which has become a favorite of many.

Instruments used on this cd were - Uilleann pipes, fiddle, Irish whistles & flute, bouzouki, guitar, mountain dulcimer and bodhran.

The cd artwork and graphics were done by Abigail Galie… and it’s awesome!

This is really sweet stuff--great tunes, beautifully played and sung. I know John from the Swannanoa Gathering. Having heard him play a mean 12 twelve string in DADGAD no less, I'm not surprised at the excellent quality of this CD.
