My name is Jim Gaven and I am a 21 year old acoustic emo singer/songwriter (senior at Seton Hall University) from Hamilton, NJ. I've been in several bands that didn't work out, so I started writing acoustic songs about4 and a half years ago as a side project. I have accumulated nearly 60 songs in this time span. Every song i've written I have recorded on Cool Edit Pro except for one: "On Your Way (To Unhappiness)". This song was recorded in a professional studio and is my first single. This song is featured on 3 compilation CD's and is on several of my websites including www.jimgaven.com, www.myspace.com/jimgaven, www.purevolume.com/jimgaven, www.soundclick.com/bands/2/jimgaven.htm. I am in the process of getting signed to an independent label, Alamo Records, and will begin to record my first full-length album entitled, "What Was Never Said" due out late this upcoming spring. I am on several online directories and music databases and have played shows on a weekly basis, sometimes 3-4 times a week, for the past 2 years. What I am really trying to do is get my music out to a mass audience. With the help of the label, continuous shows, and now, CDbaby.net on my side, I look forward to attaining that goal.

One of the best CD's I have heard.
author: AlThe lyrics really touch your heart,and inspiers other writers. The music overall grabs you and wil not let you think about much else. Basicaly this is the perfect CD to listen to if you want down-to-earth music, with heartfull lyrics and a perfect dose of reality.

Jim Gaven will be the next big thing
author: DarrenJim Gaven is an amazing songwriter with the potential to give Dashboard Confessional a run for their money. My favorite song on the EP is "At First Sight", but my favorite song so far is "My Favorite Excuse", which he plays live all the time. Go see him live because Jim puts on a really great show...and most likely you'll see a lot of hot girls singing to every word with him. Yeah! *high-five*

author: SeanThis songwriter is simply magnificent. I've went to see him live at open mic nights in north Jersey and he usually gets the best response and biggest applause of the night. I heard the songs on here are relatively old as well, like a year old; so his newer stuff should blow us away. Definitely check it out and buy it. I already have.

His capabilities as a rising musician are apparent from the tracks included, which are a mere glimpse into his accomplishments and genuine potential. Each of the songs included are meangingful lyrics set to heartfelt music. My personal favorite is On Your Way (to Unhappiness) as I enjoy his particular use of language to create pictures and even emotions. Each song is worth listening to for unique reasons.
