notes
Jette-Ives is the pensive provocateur of feisty jazz singer Jette Kelly and inimitable composer-producer Holmes Ives. Simultaneously melancholic and lascivious, candid and metaphoric, sometimes jazzy and always charismatic--Jette-Ives's debut album, In the Deep, is an intoxicating, unapologetically debauched liaison with temptation. In the Deep undulates beneath Jette Kelly's cashmere voice and salacious pen; rises with the elegant composition and acclaimed production of Holmes Ives; and coolly lounges on the subtlety, grace, and superb musicianship of its instrumentalists.
Wryly--The Story:
In the year 2005, ever-lascivious Jette and always romantically contemplative Ives drank a lot of scotch and had several inspiring carnal exchanges (though not with one another). A careless affair left Jette locked in her house with a kitchen full of scotch and chocolate, which inspired Ives to choreograph her tempestuous, overly dramatic, (albeit sincere) self-induced solitude to music--thereby luring her, song by song, back to the outside world. In order to perform it, Ives said in reference to their album, you must leave your house.
Happily--The Album:
In the Deep tongues-itself-in-cheek with the amused 'Darker Than You'; reveals the naughty ode to pleasure-pain, 'In the Presence of'...; offers a fiercely heartbroken 'Ultimately, Darling'; stalks one-lover-too-many in 'Vexed'; and weaves a tempestuous dance of masochistic seduction in the tango-inspired 'Proximity'. In the Deep is a painfully keen erotic introspection intertwined with trippy beats, jazzy upright bass, cinematic strings, and naughty thoughts imparted by a delicious voice.

Ives never ceases to amaze--beware it is far different than Untie Me, so if you're expecting the soft sounds of Sophie, this isn't your CD. But if you want another kind of exotic, you'll love Jette.
love it.
author: Ruby AdamsThis CD is an amazing collection of songs. Every time I listen to jette kelly's beautiful voice, I appreciate it more and more. I really can't say enough good things about this album. Buy it, Play it, Love it. I promise you won't be disappointed.
Oooh my god
author: Leon PieketThe design of the album tells already that this is something very defined and exclusive. It is simply outstanding! Every song has a different vibe to it. Even though it has the same Jette-Ives touch to it. I love how the upright bass does his work every time again, it's fundamental for the J-I's sound. For me at this moment it is very difficult to tell which track is my favourite. I simply like all tracks. I was pleasantly surprised by Wicked Games, what a great cover from the famous 90's original. Supine is woww, what a cool track is this. Eltimately, Darling is another one that i like very much. Nobody can take away this wonderful Debut Album, it's for sure an Album to stay, prolly one day a classic !!!
Beautiful music!
