With a guitar in his hands at the age of five, it was obvious to everyone around him that Jerry Leslie had a natural gift. Influenced by his father, a Chet Atkins-style finger picker, Jerry pursued his passion through high school, playing in garage bands and developing a sound all his own. Soon after, Jerry joined the Marine Corps where he flew the C-130 Hercules, served in Desert Storm, taught as an instructor and achieved the rank of Major. He began flying for United Airlines in 1997 and currently flies the A320 Airbus. Influenced by legends such as Jerry Reed, Doyle Dykes, Steely Dan and Stevie Ray, Jerry’s unique sound is a soulful fusion of finger style, jazz, rock, blues and Flaminco. He plays all the guitars, bass, mandolin and keyboards on his latest CD Out of the Box. Jerry currently lives and plays in the beautiful countryside of Colorado.

  • Love the Pickin'!

    Jerry's pickin' songs, Flamenco tracks, and personal takes on old hymnals are my favorites! It's nice to have these varieties all in one place... I can pop this disc in and have a nice mix. It never gets to the point where I want to change the disc because I'm getting tired of the same stuff. If you like well played guitar, but not to much of any one style, this album is a must!

The emotions that he draws out of those strings range from agony to ectasy, and every emotion in between. He is inspired by the Creator of all music and takes my soul on a ride that is rare these days. You have and are a gift.     Bottomline, Jerry is the man! I've played music with Jerry for 3 years... and he never ceases to amaze me. He is one of the most versatile guitar players I have ever met. From finger picking to absolute shredding... Jerry knocks it out of the park. I doubt that anyone who has ever watched Jerry play live has never seen another person play with as much heart and passion as him. As for the album, I love it! Once again, a melting pot of all of jerry's talent... layed out in one disc! I've had song #1 "Good News" in my head for a week now! You da man dude!

    I enjoy the variety of musical styles contained in Da Box. Many artists have one sound and it is layered on track after track. Even with talented artists, too much of a good thing is too much.     Wow! From the moment I first played this CD, I was captivated by Jerry's creativity. Out of the box can be taken so many ways, but to me as a guitar player for 25 years, Out of the box represents busting out of the standard mold of repetitive guitar playing and creating your own distinctive "voice." The wonderful thing about this CD is that Jerry's playing offers something for everyone, from tasty jazz chops to spicy Spanish flamenco, to aggresive modern metal with a funk vibe. Out of the box offers something for everyone, and my only problem is having to wait for the next release.

    I'm so glad I checked out this album. I think that there is something for everyone on it. Some jazz, blues, rock, pop.... and on and on. This album has some great cuts on it. Jerry Leslie is a phenominal musician and this album is an example of that talent. I'm looking forward to the next release!

    I recently purchased Jerry Leslie's Out of the Box CD. I enjoyed it from the first listen, but each time I hear new and exciting subtleties. The word virtuoso gets tossed about far too causally, but I don't believe I've ever heard someone who wasn't on a major record label with this kind of proficiency at their instrument. In an age when the major musical stars seem to have minimal musical talent, its nice to buy an album that is worth the money. Go get this album, then drop and give me twenty! You'll thank me for both.

    Like ray said 5 stars is not enough to fully describe the effort and diversity that went into the album. With the mixture of jazz, fusion, and rock, this cd is just incredible. I honestly cant stop listening to it, and I plan to put it on my iPod so I can enjoy it in my car with my sound system!

    What an agwesome CD! Jerry has an absolute mastery of all guitar styles especially fingerpicking. Some people who truly appreciate good music say that they sometimes get shivers down the spine when the hear a great song. This CD is full of songs that will send shivers down your spine. Great work Jerry, keep up the good work!

    As long as I've known Jerry, he's never met a guitar he hasn't liked, or that hasn't liked him for that matter. I've seen peoples jaw drop when he picks one up, then wonder why it doesn't sound the same for them. There are guitar players out there and then there are people who put there heart,soul,love,anger,passion, and everything they are into every note they play. The latter describes Jerry. He has a gift from God and it's evident in this latest project of his. He could very well be picked up by some label and travel the world, but that's not his style. Any decent guitar player can perform on stage under a spotlight but it's the true "players" that have music running through their veins that "create" what is compiled in this cd. That's what this cd is, a creative, musical feast. I highly recommend it.

    Jerry has always amazed me at his skill and his natural ability for, well everything!! Especially his gift for music. Never have I met a person with the technical skills, but also the creative mind to come up with catchy, hooky riffs, without having to sing a lick. Jerry Leslie, in my mind, is the best player I have ever seen and heard in my life. I have always said, "I can't believe nobody's picked this guy up and thrown him on a label."     This really is ear candy. I'm overwhelmed by the variety of styles of guitar playing. His supporting cast is perfectly balanced for each style of music. I can listen to the CD both turned up for intense listening or turned down for a very melodous background type of music.
