"Jenn Lindsay is so good. She's absurd."
-- Nate Borofsky,
2001 Boston Music Awards Outstanding New Singer/Songwriter

Jenn Lindsay is an NYC-based folksinger who was raised by wolves on the moors of England. Okay, really truly, she's from San Diego, but she's still a lot of fun. And her shows, if not wolfish, are certainly energetic, enjoyable and intelligent. Lach from the NYC East Village's Sidewalk Café Anti-folk Scene has recently named her, "an exciting newcomer... fun, poignant, and charming...a most welcome addition."

Jenn started gigging in Liverpool UK, and moved on to San Francisco where she quickly made a name for herself as an influential and integral artist to the East Bay political scene. She regularly played her original guitar tunes at activist gatherings, Take Back the Night rallies, political art festivals, and local coffeehouses and nightspots. JENN LINDSAY was employed as a musical activist by the Stanford Women's Community Center, the Stanford Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Community Resources Center, and by the Stanford Coalition Against Sexual Assault.

JENN LINDSAY writes super-fun super-duper honest lyrics and she tries hard, as a folksinger, to be a spokesperson for political issues, while also striving to write music that can be enjoyed in an apolitical context. Because she doesn't know what she's doing, really, her music retains the inventive and compelling stamp of complete, joyful naïveté. Coupled in turn with a dusty natty wacky straight up folky sense of what she needs to say to make her way, JENN LINDSAY's a hot potato, and happily so.

REVIEWS:
"Jenn Lindsay is an important and inspiring new voice on the music scene. Her lyrics are original and either funny or moving, often both. She's documenting the artist's life in New York City in these strange times, and she does it
really well. I'm a huge fan!"
-- Elizabeth Stark (author of Shy Girl)

"Sardonic, intelligent acoustic rock songs."
-Mike McHugh, C-Note NYC

"the beauty and emotion behind these lyrics achieve something that I have never really heard before"

"thought-provoking lyrics, a tremendous voice and an awesome stage presence that engages everyone in the room...for G-d's sake, SEE HER!!!"
-Russ Agdern, NYC Musician

Stanford Coffee House Shows
-Rohan Radhakrishna

"Jenn Lindsay. Songs of poems and wise words. Her songs are as thought provoking as a painting. Music with a good melody and a good Moral. Here is a girl that doesn't follow the 'in crowd.' She isn't afraid to be different and that's proven in her art and music."
-Colleen Purcell, 11 years old.

  • Playing at Fire and Water
    author: Daily Hampshire Gazette

Given that she's stepped decidedly away from the folk scene (and into the anti-folk one in New York), part of the pleasure in listening to Jenn Lindsay is monitoring her balance. It matters, for there isn't much of a net below. Lindsay, a native Californian in her early '20s, packs her songs with stories in the manner of folkies, but the effect is different. Rather than versify, she scrabbles around crablike, mixing acidic observations and humorous scolding in with her narratives. --Larry Parnass, Daily Hampton Gazette (MA), 9/5/02

Jenn, your website is gorgeous. And at the Antifolk Fest you were a shining star among tinfoil. i'm sure there's a fool's gold analogy that could be exploited too, but then i'm not really a true geologist... anyway, i look forward to future gigs; what will it take to lure you to the upper west side??

She electrifies the room, giving a priceless performance by sending currents of truth and razor-sharp wit coursing through the listener via distinctively fresh melodies and pipes that reach lofty highs as effortlessly as they caress sexy lows.
