(About MP3 downloads at CD Baby)

Jeff's music might best be described as an inspired update of 60's groups like The Beatles, The Kinks and The Lovin' Spoonful with a little Cake, Beck, Waits and Dylan mixed in.

notes

A real, blast of creativity! Lots of fine tunes! I especially enjoyed 'FUBAR', 'Christ-like' and 'Do You Believe'. The sense of humor really comes across in tunes like 'Pimple of Talent', 'Misanthropia' and elsewhere. I was pleased at how clearly the lyrics came through. Recording-wise, I was quite amazed at the quality of sound all the way through. The whole album has real solidity on the bottom end, and it quite masterfully mixed. I also enjoyed how many different guitars were used, and the number of well-placed sound effects and percussions in several songs. Altogether this is an impressive offering. Drums, guitars and bass were all well-arranged and played. I particularly enjoyed Zack Root's bass parts - very inventive. Overall "Kerouac King Kong" is a really professional job! - Wayne Wadhams (Record Producer, Songwriter, Artist - Fifth Estate, D-Men, Studio Musician - Lovin' Spoonful)

  • The Merlin of Rock Camelot!
    author: G.S. Picard

Jeff Root's latest release proves yet again that he is the Merlin of modern rock. His ever evolving wizardry with lyrics and melodies suggest an old soul with much wisdom to impart. He morphs from disillusioned cynic ( Pimple Of Talent) to harbinger of hope (Mary Magdalene Lady, Do You Believe?), from wry observer (Kerouac King Kong) to comic debunker (FUBAR) with melodic ease. The songs on this disc take us on an exploration of the most basic yet complex elements of the human condition; love, lust, fear, longing and the perpetual desire to understand it all. And I, for one, am grateful for every toe-tappin', boot-stompin', psyche-soothin' moment of it!

  • Clever pop songwriting at its best!
    author: Lee Villeneuve

If you like music that stretches out the boundaries of the pop music template, you will love this brilliantly written and performed cd! Intelligent lyrics combined with cleverly catchy melodies; this guy knows how to write a great song. Kerouac King Kong.. FUBAR.. A Pimple of Talent, Rigorous Mortis.. the songs are awesome and Jeff sings them like he wrote 'em ('cos he did!) ~ sung with lots of heart!! Pick it up, you won't be disappointed!
