Ireland's South East Radio said in its review of this album, "Jed Marum has his genetic roots in County Kilkenny, Ireland. Those genes must come from a long line of bards and storytellers to judge from his recorded output. I have collected a number of albums from this troubadour and he never fails to deliver."

"The featured CD also has a Celtic/Canadian flavour, although Jed Marum is not Canadian. The album, "MILES FROM HOME" was recorded at Paul Mill's studio, The Millstream in Toronto and using some very fine musicians with strong connections to the Borealis Label."

"... I especially admire your songs drawn from the histories of ordinary people. I appreciate the sensitivity with which you retell their stories in their voices and the immediacy of time and place that you manage to convey in a few short verses. These are wonderful portraits."

"... well worth listening to. It is not only going to be my "featured" album next show, but I think it is destined to be one of the Best of 2005.

Miles From Home
author: Wanda MileyUnbelievably good music!! Have enjoyed it over and over. Would definitely recommend!!
The best of Celtic and American Folk.
author: DonnaI am a long time Brian McNeill fan and stumbled onto this Jed Marum CD while researching Brian's Celtic music. What a lucky break for me! Jed Marum is a fine songwriter and a great singer and Brian's work on the album adds so much. This CD has such a nice blend of Celtic and American folk styles, and a super bunch of songs!
Miles from Home great music.
author: Mary Lou McGuillMiles From Home was great.Especially since my name is Mary McGuill.Seriously the music is wonderful
"West Texas Wind" had me soaring.
author: Bill WarrenOur NPR station played West Texas Wind on the late show as I was driving home from work. My first reaction was, Who does that sound like (John Denver)? My second was visualizing his poetry... soaring, huge sky, home, love... windmills and mesquite, flat desert, rugged canyons, rocky mountains, heat and cold, blazing sunsets and blue full moons... did I mention the huge sky? everything good West Texas is to us who live here. Then the rich arrangement (is that a 12-string?) in waltz time, flowing, romantic, infectious. A new anthem for the Lone Star state!
A long time favorite
author: John KThis album plays on WXOU radio so much that we bought our own copy. It has become a constant favorite! A blend of Irish and Irish American music. We love it!
A fascinating collection of tunes. Very enjoyable. Real "ear candy."
author: Susan M. BorkWe first heard portions of this CD on an NPR "Thistle & Shamrock" broadcast a few months ago and quickly put it on our "wish list." My husband, a retired music teacher, found the cord changes in Mary Magill (spelling?) especially interesting and proceeded to analyze them! What a nice blend of Irish and folk conjuring up images of early Irish immigrants who helped tame our country. Thoroughly enjoyable.
I love this CD!
author: Danny in MII love this album! I listen to it all the time, and love every song. It starts out great, and just gets better. It surprises me how each song tells a new story, and how each time you listen you get more from the song. The players are all excellent, the arrangements simple and the production exquisite. This gets my vote for album of the year.
Great stuff, highly recommended!
author: Bente in DenmarkVery few CDs have taken me in so completely already on the first listen-through as this one did - and it just keeps getting better with each time I listen ;-)
Highs, lows and all steps inbetween - a wonderful gem
author: Scott GoodnoI had never heard of Jed Marum and therefore wasn't expecting this CD. I didn't expect to find an entire CD that doesn't have a bad song on it and that contains 5 (5!) gems that I listen to over and over again. The diversity of the music is impressive but not distracting, the lyrics/vocals are engaging, the instrumental portions are a joy to listen to. In short - a wonderful discovery!
Very enjoyable and relaxing recordings. Blessed Artists. ginni1@mindspring.com
author: Virginia A. LydonHi: Thoroug;y enjoying your CD. All others ordered will go to Ohio, Alabama, and two different daughters in Arizona. Anxious to hear their comments. (One of my g.sons is gifted with Guitar) Thanks.
This may be the best in all time, of folk and Celtic music
author: Tim P.I have two of Jed's earlier CD but this is easily his best yet ... and it may be one of the best one ever in this genre. The lyrics, the melodies, the playing, the arrangements, production, and the packaging - this is surely one of the best CD's you will hear.
