notes

After stunning audiences in the UK with jaw dropping performance after performance, TAPEIRE is bringing the beat to North America with a two week NYC residence at the Victory Theatre, Miami, preceeded by a Canadian tour. James Devine's Tapeire: Music from the Show is the soundtrack CD and score to the stage production.

Created, produced and directed by James Devine, TAPEIRE is the new Celtic inspired multimedia dance production that features the Guinness World Records’ “Fastest Dancer in the World” himself, who clocks in at an astounding 38 taps per second to create a whole new kind of theatrical experience.

Honoring past traditions, but blasting them feet-first into the 21st century, TAPEIRE is pure entertainment. Teaming up with a motley crew of mind-blowing musicians including multi-platinum Canadian Celtic rebel Ashley MacIsaac, and award-winning composer and multi-instrumentalist Phamie Gow, Devine infuses Celtic Tap rhythms with fiddle and multi-percussion in an exhilarating hip-hop and funk jam session that celebrates the past, present and future of Irish dance.

After its world premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, UK on August 3, 2006, TAPEIRE received a Total Sell-Out Award having accomplished 25 consecutive sold-out performances for the entire run of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, a rare feat achieved by few companies who perform at the Festival.

The group has received 5-star rave reviews from the media and promoters and attracted massive praise from audiences following its shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and elsewhere.

"If hip-hop did tap, this would be it. It’s pure beat box with feet."
~ (The Herald, UK)

“Multi Platinum.... hugely talented.... phenomenal.”
~ (The Scotsman, UK)

"A perfect match of flying feet and fingers."
~ (The Globe and Mail, Toronto, Canada)

"...perfectly mixed dance and musical styles into a thoroughly satisfying theatrical experience."
~ (The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, Canada)
