June Drucker is well known in the old time music scene for her bass playing in the Heartbeats (with Tara Nevins, Beverly Smith, and Rose Sinclair) and later with the Horseflies. Both bands at the forefront of the non-traditional old time music scene. They played all over the U.S. and Canada also touring in Germany, opening up for 10,000 Maniacs and Mary Chapin Carpenter, as well as appearing on Prairie Home Companion, E-Town and Mountain Stage. Through the years, June has gained great respect for her skillful, sensitive, and solid bass playing.

In addition, she has recorded with numerous groups including The Renegades (with Richie Stearns, James Leva & Carol Elizabeth Jones), The Improbabillies, The Lonesome Sisters with Riley Baugus, Jennie Stearns, James Leva & Carol Elizabeth Jones. I completely agree with each and every 5 star review here. This cd is really great.

  • fluid fiddling
    author: Rich

I heard June playing live at Clifftop and listened to a field recording I made of her. I wanted to hear more, so I found this CD. It is an excellent band with very fluid, driving fiddling. Cannot go wrong with this one!

  • Best Fiddle, superb Banjo and Group out there!
    author: Ed Berbaum

Enhance your mood, feel like dancing all by yourself. June and every member of this wonderful band have found what many of us have been searching for - for a long time; THE special grove. Cherokee Shuffle for example has the power of a freight train chugin down the tracks. You can not walk normal if you are walking to this tune. You will really feel the power of honest Old-Time dance music. Best Fiddler you may ever hear.

  • tumbles and leaps ...but does not fall!

June is a gifted musician and understated to boot! This is a delightful journey through June's musical influences. You won't be dissapointed! Just buy the dang cd!

  • Great as expected

Because every CD with June Drucker on it is great.

  • Actually great tunes. Excitement and warmth together. Bounces along.
    author: Graeme Philip ( Scotland)

Great find. Most CDs listed in this genre are frankly rubbish. This CD is fantastic. I've not heard more pleasing fiddle led music since the best Cajun stuff I own, e.g. by Michael Doucet (Beausoleil). The tunes, mostly fast, bounce along with great sense of rhythm perhaps partly due to her background as a respected acoustic bass player. The tunes and the playing also have a real feeling of warm earthiness that you get out of good celtic music from Scotland and Ireland. (No silly sounding Bluegrass ditties here). Some of the stuff sounds very Cajun too which is good. The Bluegrass associated instruments like banjo are still there but only to provide a pleasing accompaniment, not to dominate with horrible plinky-plonk tunes. While not being at the top end of fiddle playing technique, thats beside the point; for this performance as a package delivers the musical goods that I have been craving from the genre but usually fail to find. Well done June Drucker! Whether you are into Scottish, Irish, Breton, Cajun fiddle led music, whatever, trust me and buy this album.

  • excellent fiddling and an excellent groove.
    author: Debra

June has a great laid back groove to her fine fiddling, and her own distinct style. She's also a great songwriter, and many people play her tunes. A great addictive trance inducing CD!
