Folk Fusion - Celtic Folk and World music permeated by the sound of the Didjeridu.

notes

This CD..

Instrumental Folk Fusion, with strong world music and classical influences, permeated by the distinctive sound of the didjeridu.

Guaranteed to annoy Folk purists, Classical purists, and all those who believe that different genres and styles should not be mixed, it is a combination of everything I love in music. And if that results in tracks where the Aboriginal didjeridu accompanies an early Italian clasical composition for recorder, whilst a bodhran hammers out Celtic rhythms behind it, well, it is simply what felt right to me. I know that some people try and play what they think others will want to hear, but I can't do that. This CD is the music I love playing, and by recording it I hope to share that love with other people. I hope you like it!

Me...

Born longer ago than I care to remember, my life has always been divided between my two passions, music and writing. Actually, make that three passions, just in case my wife is reading this. Or four, if you count my dogs, or perhaps five, if...well, you get the idea, anyway. Having graduated from university with a music degree, I found myself, as is only to be expected, unemployed. Which time I spent happily playing and writing, until I accidentally found myself a job. Since then I've moved jobs, houses and countries, but continue to play and to write. As well as recording my own work, I also play in several groups, and indulge in a spot of solo performing every now and then. And that's it really - that's me.

  • Unusual folk fusion with didge
    author: Sam Roads

A real patchwork of styles mixed in this CD. I liked some tracks more than others, but there's probably something here for everyone! Great pipe playing with thundering bodhran is my taste, though I think Davis is better known as a didge player. There's even a story for children as the last track.
