Rooted in Blues, R&B, and 50's rock the feel of this album best represents what we call the "lowcountry" sound down here in Savannah

notes
The Jeff Beasley Band is a group of Savannah's top, veteran players: Mike Perry (upright bass); James "Jiggy" Moody (saxophone);Billy Hoffman (drums); and Jeff Beasley (guitar, vocals). Rooted in blues, the band has been strongly influenced by 50's rock. The music is fresh, exciting and reflects the same energy conveyed by some of Jeff's heroes, such as Professor Longhair, Fats Domino, CCR, Buddy Holly and Delbert McClinton. There are also lots of hints of Cajun music and Tex-Mex flavors. "I play original music, but I love performing covers too. It shows respect to other artists and helps the crowd identify with my musical direction."
From the Beginning
After picking up a guitar at age 18, Jeff played in a succession of classic and Southern rock bands during his college years at Georgia Southern University. After graduating in 1991, Jeff moved to Athens, Georgia, and traded in his marketing degree for a minimum wage job and a band called Blue Groove. This was his first experimentation with blues, funk and rock all mixed together.
In 1995, it was off to Nashville where he lived until 2002. Nashville was a good place to learn about the recording industry. Jeff was a regular featured writer at the famous Bluebird Cafe and enjoyed a small publishing deal with Warner Chappell music.
The Low Country
Jeff returned to Savannah in 2002 to find a blossoming blues scene and a tourist trade, which provided an abundance of gigs. He immediately jumped in with the Bluesonics, a shuffle-based blues band. After a year, he and their harmonica player, Danny "Spanky" Valentino, left the Bluesonics and started Two Blue, where Danny played harmonica and sang and Jeff played drums, guitar and sang at the same time. In 2004, Danny left Savannah and Jeff joined forces with Ray “Crazy Face “ Lundy to form the power duo Too Blue. Today, Jeff clocks over 250 shows per year with his most passionate venture to date, The Jeff Beasley Band.
From swing to blues to boogie to funk, The Jeff Beasley Band is one of the most versatile bands around. After you've seen one of their high energy live performances, you'll understand what The Jeff Beasley Band is all about.
