notes
First CD from the popular and award-winning New Orleans Jazz Vipers, a six-piece acoustic swing band featuring (on this CD) John Rodli on guitar and vocals, Joe Braun on saxophone and vocals, Ja Ja Duval on trombone, Linnzi Zaorski on vocals, Steve Yokum on trombone and vocals, and Neti Vaan on fiddle.
The New Orleans Jazz Vipers were the winners of the New Orleans Big Easy Award in 2005 for "Best Traditional Jazz Band."
"The New Orleans Jazz Vipers are a big reason why the Spotted Cat went from being a Frenchmen Street curiosity for passersby to a vital neo-tradjazz hot spot. This isn't your older brother's cover band either; the Vipers respect for the old ways translates into more obscure works from folks like Benny Carter or Count Basie, instead of going with the obvious."
"...bands like the New Orleans Jazz Vipers are pumping up New Orleans' most famous musical export with hip Faubourg Marigny attitude."
"They Sound Good in Sunlight Too: The New Orleans Jazz Vipers made an effortless transition from the late-night vibe of their regular Spotted Cat gig to an afternoon set in blazing sun on the Lagniappe Stage (New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Fest). The band's acoustic sound was a perfect fit..."

My Kind Of Music!
author: Carl M. NielsenEveryone knows that different people have different taste. Well, this suits my taste. This is the thing. For any lover of old time jazz - this is as good as it gets. This is thruely a great trad. jazz album. Lots of stuff in that style sound too much like eachother. This one sticks out with its own personality. It's swingin', it's melodic, it's happy, it's sentimental, it's boiling, it's cozy, it's a lot of fun, it's a time for dreams. Most of all it's a good time of great music. Good, devoted musicians, but not too serious. Always place for a smile. Stedy going, straight ahead, but allthough exiting, and honest down to the thruth. No smart ass, no fooling around, but plain good music at its very best. Buy it- you wont regret it!

Fantastic, solid jazz tunes. The sound energizes. Not over produced. Excellent groove.
