notes
These two CDs respond to the Pope’s invitation to encourage Gregorian Chant by providing in one place the fundamental tools necessary to rekindle the use of Gregorian chant during the Mass as well as for other festive occasions. This music was developed for use as a teaching tool for a variety of audiences: bishops and priests desiring to conform with the wishes of the Pope by incorporating Latin in the Mass; choir directors and musicians wishing to enhance the use of Latin chant within their music ministry in their parishes; seminarians and religious who want to learn how to chant; and many others who have a passion for the blessing influence that Gregorian chant offers.
Through the use of modern digital technology, these recordings provide a high-quality sound clarity that is necessary to hear the articulation of the Latin pronunciation as well as the nuances of the idiom.
The selected chants are the most popular versions of the ordinaries, propers, and prayers sung during the celebration of the Eucharist. Other popular chants sung during The Divine Office are also included, as well as a collection of hymns, sequences and processional chants that can be used for special occasions and feast days.
A companion booklet is available with the sheet music in traditional Gregorian notation. The booklet also contains a brief instructional on how to sing Gregorian chant. Please go to www.thechantkit.com for additional information.
