notes
Not since Hendrix has a guitarist so infused rock and blues with the spirit of adventure.
He's a fireball of energy whose screaming solos and chunky chord work leave little doubt as to where he stands at all times. Over the top is the best way to describe his emotive playing.
This LA blues rock guitar player is a guy who has everyone else just trying to keep up as he pulls off endless incendiary guitar solos.
This is Gordon's fourth album, with a fifth threatened for 2000 release. here's a guy who attracts guitar players who show up to watch and take notes.
(GRADEA*/ROCKTALK'BILL LOCEY/LOS ANGELES TIMES.)
This is simply the hands-down coolest, most outrageous electric-guitar blues I've heard since Jimi's last coherent, live performance.
There is nothing, save regard for our more refined sensibilities, that Jay Gordon doesn't think of here.
Presented, as it is, in a section of the disc dedicated to Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, and John Coltrane, it contains all the requisite melodic angularity, all the down-your-throat brashness, all the inventive abandon of the giants in whose names it's offered.
Staggering. Humbling. Wonder-inspiring. White, hot, and blue.
This disc is your best earthly hope for Electric Redemption.

ELECTRIC REDEMPTION / JAY GORDON "HOTSHOT GUITAR SLINGER " / HE'S A FIREBAL
author: Bob Cianci / The River Reporter / Narrowsburg, New YorkCHECK THIS ONE OUT!!!! Hendrix/Blackmore/Trower/Johnny Winter & Vaughan Fans. JAY GORDON, ELECTRIC REDEMPTION, BLUE ACE RECORDS "OVER THE TOP" is the best way to describe JAY GORDON. He's a WHITE-HOT, EMOTIONAL GUITAR PLAYER whose Intensity never lets up for a minute, whether Assaulting the listener with ELECTRIC BLUES, SLIDE GUITAR in the Johnny Winter vein, a HEAVY METAL ATTACK, or ACOUSTIC SOUNDS that ring true to their delta roots. Jimi Hendrix was as obvious influence on JAY GORDON, who dedicates the tune " SAVAGE RESURRECTION" to the late rock icon. This writer can't stomach guitarists who screw around without getting to the point. JAY GORDON can never be accused of slacking. JAY GORDON'S A FIREBALL OF ENERGY, whose SCREAMING SOLOS and chunky chord work leave little doubt as to where he stands at all times.
JAY GORDON / ENDLESS INCENDIARY GUITAR SOLOS.

Heavy... Guitar /15 tracks & 63 plus minutes of slashin !!!!
author: Big City Blues/mark ColeChicago firebrand Jay Gordon has brandished his weapons on three previous releases on this label, this fourth is captivating in its adherence to highly original work and arranging. Dedicated to Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis & John Coltrane, this release displays much of the innovative and highly inventive phrasing and structuring found in their works. Hard rockin sounds, torturous string bending, and howlin pedal work. Complicated and layered instrumentals included. Heavy.... fifteen tracks and sixty-three plus minutes of slashin!! Big City Blues/Mark Cole
Electric Redemption packs the same whallop as Jay first 3 Cds.
author: Pete Roche/ Experience Hendrix/ The Official Jimi Hendrix MagaziJay Gordon's 4th Blue Ace recording, Electric Redemption, packs the same wallop as his first three and some. Dividing the disc into two sets ("Drippin Blues" and "Savage Resurrection"), Jay Gordon plugs in and lets fly with the sme Chicago Blues abandon that sparked Blues Infested two years ago. "Message to Collins" opens with a hot sustained guitar bend. Jay Gordon tears through the instrumental number, scorching the strings ala Stevie Ray Vaughan or Chris Duarte. "Dripppin Blues" showcases Jay Gordon bottle -neck guitar style, while "Lucky 13" and "Jaybird Stomp" find the Chi-Town native breakin out the boogie. Russ Green (Bass) and Rich Lambert(Drums) are an effective rhythm combo, but the mix on Green's is to subdued. Jay Gordon dedicates the second halp of Redemption to heroes Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, and John Coltrane. These influences crop up in tracks like "Blues for the Eternal Angels" and powerful "Driving Force." Hendrix gets his own tribute with "Savage Redemption," Jay Gordon's wild wah-wah drenched fuzz rock funk-a-thon. One can almost make out strains of "Foxey Lady" and "Voodoo Chile" -Pete Roche/Experience Hendrix/ The Official Jimi Hendrix magazine
Blistering six string work.
author: Scott Yanow/ L A Jazz Scene/ Amg / All Music Guide"Electric Redemption is his finest recording yet, for Jay Gordon not only plays with fire but is also heard on acoustic slide guitar, taking very effective vocals and (on 47 Beers) playing harmonica. A brilliant and highly original set he should please all Blues collectors. Blistering six-string work." Scott Yanow/ LA Jazz Scene/All Music Guide
A guitar player for guitar hounds to check out.
author: Music Connection/southland Blues -jon PepperJay Gordon is one of the best guitar players around. He never seems to overdo his solos, going right to the edge and then pulling back. A guitar player for guitar hounds to check out. Jon Pepper/Music Connection/Southland Blues

author: Rock City News/g- ManScreaming Blues: Thirty-three seconds into Jay Gordon's Cd, "Electric Redemption," he hits a piercing note and holds it for 15 seconds of delicious tension before unleashing a torrent of searing blues-rock. Jay takes you to the outer edge of the blues, spins you around, whacks you upside the head, and drowns you in a pool of overdriven, saturated notes. There's some of every kind of Electric Blues here and it-all cooks.
