notes
"Bennett's honest voice is the centerpiece of his songs. He's best when he lets it fly with a Dylanesque 'what the hell' attitude. The voice is complemented by fine guitar and harmonica work, haunting cello and lyrics that have something to say. Singer-songwriter fans should enjoy the tales of lost love and lost souls on 'The Atascadero Sessions." - BILL REED - THE COLORADO SPRINGS GAZETTE
Jason Bennett is an old-school folkie with many influences from Bob Dylan to Billy Bragg. If you look hard enough you will find him singing, strummin' and playing harmonica in a small coffeehouse or bookstore somewhere.
Bennett has four cd's of original music available, (all available here on Cdbaby) and his cd's have sold in 11 different countries. Bennett's songs have been played on numerous radio stations from Germany to Budapest to Alaska to California.
"The Atascadero Sessions" is Jason's debut cd and features himself on vocals, guitar and harmonica and also features special guest Bob Liepman, who provides a beautiful backing cello accompaniment throughout the album. Also on the album is Atascadero singer-songwriter Janine Elich and Ojai percussionist Drew Lurie.
In 2005 Jason signed a Nashville publishing deal for his song "Snap My Fingers" which he wrote with longtime friend Robert "Rauly" Curran. You can listen to the original version of that song here at cdbaby.com/jasonbennett2 on his album "Self Portrait".
Jason's recordings include the following:
2001: The Atascadero Sessions
2004: Self Portrait
2005: Acoustic Harbor
2006: Mindchange

"I gave you the sun
and you turned it to rain
and you traded my love for pain.
And the pebbles in the sand
Fall through my hand
and spell out the words, "Goodnight Suzanne."

Soul-touching
author: Wendy RaeIf It's True perfect perspective and incredible truth about the judgemental world we live in. How beautifully displayed the desire as the song says... see the rain before calming the storm!!
Great listening while driving home from hiking...

author: Misty RomeroI thought the cd was great and it was a great way to relax after a long day's work. The cello and guitar combination was soothing as the harmonica reminded me of being an American. All and all I loved it.
Impressive debut
author: Rauly Curran, Sherman Oaks, CaliforniaAcoustic folk at its best. Bennett keeps it raw, yet delivers a gentle blend of interesting vocals and simple instrumentation. The cello accompaniment will tear your heart out. Bennett has the most honest voice I have heard in a while. Interesting...............
Wonderful debut album
author: Christopher DoughertyAs I sat down and listened to Jason Bennett's "The Atascadero Sessions" I was delighted to discover a unique and affecting blend of acoustic folk music with an eclectic sound of touching vocals, an extremely passionate cello and songs that cry out in desire and love. A wonderful debut album from an obviously gifted songwriter.
