notes
The third album from Jasmine Jamillah, When Heaven Falls expands on the edgy soul/folk/funk sound that have made the 25 year-old songstress and her band the group to listen to in New York’s music scene. The twelve songs on the album were recorded during one weekend in June 2007 and were written by Jasmine Jamillah over the past two years.
The songs on When Heaven Falls evoke the soul of Nina Simone, the sass of James Brown and the wit of Regina Spektor.

A quirky likability
author: Lovelyn BettisonWhen Heaven Falls is a CD full of original songs written by Jasmine Jamillah. Her voice is soulful and breathy. Most of the songs are about heartache and love lost. Though these are common topics for songs, this album has a quirky likability that makes it stand out. My favorite song on the album is The Happiest Days. Yes, it’s another song about a break-up but it’s a particularly moving one.
Lust, heartbreak, hope. Mostly lust.
author: dCoGrab this. Miss Jamillah's luscious voice will touch you in a special way and never call you again.
Worth a listen
author: OtisPulls your heart strings, but not too tight. Pleasantly poppy without making you cringe. Definitely worth a listen.
