notes
Martin Newell came up with the title WITHOUT THE BEATLES (after the fab four´s 2nd uk album WITH THE BEATLES...)back in 96 and pointed me into the direction of XTC´s Dave Gregory and Louis Philippe when in need of other contributors. They both agreed giving me their songs and with these uk legends on board it was easy to get some more songs from other British underground artists such as Alan Jenkin´s/The CREAMS or cult musician Nick Saloman/BEVIS FROND to the us d.i.y.-wizard R. STEVIE MOORE.
Jarmusic now re-releases this wonderful compilation of BEATLES songs. You can hear a modern definite version of "free as a bird", a note by note version of "i am the walrus" by a certain COLIN´s HERMIT (!!!he used some of the original 60´s instruments incl.. a mellotron!), pure psychedelia of MATMOSPHERE and an extremely funny version of "yesterday" by Alan Jenkin´s the CREAMS.
The CD is presented with a 20-page booklet, a sticker (some of the artists painted by Peter Rosendale) and a BEATLES postcard.
